Casts lures like a dream!
This is the first real surf fishing pole I buy that is meant for lures and I gotta say it was well worth the money. I was easily casting 2-4 oz lures farther than I ever have and it definitely felt like the pole could handle more if needed. I used this pole in Puerto Vallarta and was catching sierra or I believe it's spanish mackerel and I was able to horse them in no problem. Only… read more thing would be that the tip is a bit more sensitive but since I live in SoCal and there aren't too many big species to catch that more sensitive tip will help me catch and feel the smaller strikes. Overall I'm in love and haven't found anything to complain about yet.
Good if not great!
This would have been the perfect rod if they put fuji K guides on it. I have mine paired with Daiwa Certate 4000HD and its the perfect pair for me.
Absolutely love this rod
I use this rod on the fishing pier and have been able to fight much bigger fish with it. Its sensitive, and I feel like the fish cant feel until its too late. Just the right amount of bend. I have thrown over 3oz with the 1/2oz-2oz maglite, no problem. And I love how light weight it is
Versatile 2 Pc Surf Rod
Light surf rod with a great backbone. And, you can really sling your terminal tackle out there if weight-matched to the rods specs.
Buy it!
By far one of the best investments for surf casting I've ever made! Strong, durable, casts like a dream! You won't be disappointed!
Great Rod
The 9 1-5oz has been perfect to me for 3 or 4 years now, I prefer it for metals and jigs but its fine with lighter plugs like sp minnows as well. It really shines in the 1.5-2.5 oz range and adds more than a few yards to my casting distance compared to many other rods Ive used.
Superb Rod (11 ft 3-8oz)
I was hesitant on spending the $ on this rod but I can say it's worth! Very strong, sensitive, and light weight for the size. I can sling bucktails and plugs less than 2 oz super far even though its rated 3-8 oz.
TFO 10â™6 Great Rod
10â™6 is a great rod. Lightweight, strong, and casts a wide variety of weights. On top of these, the rod has a great finish and is easily the best looking rod I own.
Super lightweight and strong
I was in the need for a 9 foot rod for fishing buck tails and plugs from the beach and this rod met my requirements it's lightweight and has a nice back bone with a sensitive tip. You can cast all day and not me sore the next day I highly recommend it
G-Loomis
Very good quality rod! Super light! The perfect balance paired up w/the Stella SW5000PG.
Excellent Surf Rod, great price point
Handles 1.5-2 oz baits with razor like precision. Rod action suits surf, jetty and bay fishing perfectly. Overall amazing quality and value for the price. Have handled bluefish and stripers up to ~20lbs with ease. Sensitive enough to use for shore based fluking as well but so far I've only pulled out shorts for the season. Don't hesitate - amazing rod. I have it paired with a Penn… read more Slammer 6500 for blue/strippers and switch off to Penn Slammer 4500 for fluking.
Light , almost too light?
amazing rod, so far i love it, it is very light so be aware do not put a 6000 reel on it, i have mine paired with a BG 4500 and its a dream
thanks tackledirect
ps: TFO surf rods are sooooo under rated
Great rod for the money
If you don't have the $$ for a true Lami (not an Insane Surf, the real Lami's) or high end St Croix, ODM, etc, this offers an alternative to the other low-mid range surf rods. Very light and casts a mile. I bought the 10'6" and find that it's better suited for 1-4 oz rather than the 2-8 as stated on the blank. I would absolutely not want to throw anything over 5 oz. with this. Have… read more yet to put a decent fish on it but we will see how well it performs long-term. TFO has a great warranty like St Croix, so i expect to have it for a long time.

Well it is a good rod and all but, I noticed the ratings and weigh of the rod was different from what I've read
Top Section: 74"<p>Butt Section: 40"</p>
Hello Santosh. This rod has a 60/40 split. The short ens is 4'2" and the long end is 6'8".
The Temple Fork GIS SCS 1106-2 Gary Loomis Tactical Series Surf Rod - 11 ft. would pair well with the VR200 for casting big spoons and Rapala's. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.
These rods are a 70/30 split.
The 8'6'' rod is unavailable at this time to provide weight. The 9' rod is 10.4 oz.
A 5000 size Penn Clash would actually be a great match for the 9' model.
Yes. Both the 5500 and 6500 would balance well with those models.
The 10'6'' weighs 12 oz and the 11' model weighs 14.4 oz.
The Temple Fork Outfitters Gary Loomis Tactical Series Surf Rods are rated accurately. You will be just fine loading the 9' model with 4 oz. This series rod provides great action and stability fishing in the surf.
The VS 150 would balance best with the 9' Gary Loomis Surf Rod.
We have a 30 return policy, un-used still in original packaging. All other warranties will have to go through Gary Loomis. You will ave to register the rod you would be purchasing on their site. Once you register if the rod has a manufacturer defect you c
The line rating is all for mono.
We recommend going with the 6500 BG.
Magnum Power actions are two times heavier than their corresponding power so "mag L" would be medium power.
The Saragosa 6000 would pair well with that rod. You could also bump up to the 8000 if you plan on fishing the canal, slightly faster retrieve will help out.
Yes the 125 or 150 VR would pair up well with the 9' depending on your preferred line capacity.Â
We have a 30 day return policy. The item has to be un-used and still in the original packaging it came in. All other warranties will have to go through G Loomis and you'll have to register the rod through them. This warranty will cover any manufacturer de
Hi Nick. We do not recommend using a casting (conventional) reel with a spinning rod. The rods are not built to bend in that direction. Search the site for "Conventional Surf rods" to see rod options use connventional / casting reels.
Hello charlie, that is a 70/30 split.
Hello Nick, the 11 foot may be a better option for getting better distance on the canal. I would suggest looking at one of the Century Sling Shot surf rods.
By looking at the specs of that reel the 9 foot should pair up with it just fine.
The mag heavy can handle 50-60 pound braid and really any surface or sub-surface lures.
The 8 ft. 6 in has been discontinued
We physically weighed the rod again and is 10.4 oz
