Good intermediate surf rod
Good intermediate surf rod. Handles up to 4oz and bait for bait soaking and medium plugs with a sweet spot at 2-3oz. Very well constructed.
Good Medium Setup for Surf Fishing
Bought the 2 piece 7' 6" model for surf fishing in South East Florida. Held up to multiple Jack Crevalle. The textured grip above the reel seat was useful to gain leverage while fighting the fish. Guide inserts were good quality, there were no cracks and they didn't pop out unexpectedly.
However, I felt the guide frames could be reinforced better, such as adding a third…

Great Surf Fishing rod!
I have a 8' 1 piece Star Stellar surf rod that I use for primarily Albie and Bonito from the surf. I also well as some back bay fishing. This surf rod does not disappoint it has good back bone and is very comfortable to fish with. The rod is light weight and allows for hours of fishing with little to no fatigue. Pick one up you will not be disappointed.
Great rod
This rod has never given me any trouble at all after use for 3 years
Lightweight fun to fish with
Can handle pretty big fish lightweight enough to cast all day paired my either a kastking Sharkey 3 12 lbs mono
Nice rod for pier fishing
Nice light strong rod for pier fishing. I do everything with this rod, jigging for pompanos and mackerals and also bottom fishing for snappers.
Lifetime warranty
You really cant beat lifetime warranty for a benjamin! The 76 light and medium are my go to inshore setup
Tough Rods That Get The Job Done!
I cannot say anything bad about these rods. I bought 3 1 piece rods, 2 x 7'6 and one 8'. They are incredible. The 8' is my favorite for casting 2 oz kastmaster style spoons. They cast far. I have them all paired with Slammer III's. Perfect match for the surf and jetties, tanks. I've had them a while now and they take a beating and the guide rigs stay on. I'm so glad I upgraded to… read more these from chain store cheapies.
Surf casting
great rod for surf casting, nice and light.
Long casting
This rod is everything I hoped it would be and more. It makes super long casts, and has great action. This will definitely be my go to surf rod.
Cast like a dream.
So I don't know how it handles any size fish just yet because I'm the only guy in NJ that didn't go on the recent bite as of late. Soon tho, if it's anything like other Star products it's wonderful. I've never had any problems with their rods.
Great for the money
The SG76IS is great for fishing back bays with smaller lures and can handle days in the surf when its not too rough. Its rated to two ounces but I wouldnt think to throw that much on it.
8' 1pc still best feeling rod I own. Have 8,9 2pc rods but the 80is model can handle big drum along with small eatable panfish. Light but strong . Put penn slammer 4500 on it!! Da bomb
The 8' 1 piece is fav of all these and other mfgs. Model 80is with slammer 3 4500 n see if u don't start selling other stuff to get another.
Nice light surf rod.
I was looking for a replacement of an old light action shorter (71/2 ft.) surf rod that I've had since the 70's! It took a while to find, but the star stellar lite fit the bill perfectly! I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it will be great. I can't wait to try it out hopefully this spring in Florida casting jigs for pompano in the surf. The rod it's self has great components and… read more is well built. Well worth the money!
Favorite 2 piece surf rod
I love this rod. Short butt length. Big guides, none of that silly micro stuff. Can throw 3/8-1.5oz. I use this rod to throw small bucktails, sp minnows and plastics in the NJ surf. Super fun to fish and handles keeper stripers without trouble. It is on the moderate-fast side, don't expect a very fast rod. It allows you to make far casts without much effort. It is just right for… read more smaller presentations and I am super picky about rods.
I dont think you would have an issue tossing anything with the variety of lure weights they have available.

The 9' medium weighs 11.2 oz and the the 9' medium heavy weighs 10.6 oz.

The bottom two models shown on the Star Stellar Lite Surf Rods page are casting rods 9' and 12'.
The best reel size would be 4000 Penn, Shimano, and Okuma 40 reels. For a Daiwa i would have to advise a 3000 or 3500 size reel.
The rod weighs 1 lb 8 oz.
Yes this rod will work for that application of fishing.
Yes, that would pair very well with that rod.
Yes, this will be a good set up.
The 8 foot Star Stellar Lite Surf rod breaks down to a 50/50 split

Hi Billy, A Star Stellar Lite Surf Rod would be a great pair for your Penn Clash II 4000HS. However, since they are currently sold out I would also recommend a Tsunami TSTIISS-702M Trophy II Surf Spinning Rod. This rod would also pair nicely with yo
The 10 foot star-rod weighs 13.8 ounces. The 11 foot star-rod weighs 14.5 ounces.
Both 9 foot rods are a two piece and both are rated 1-4 oz lure rate.
Either the 10 foot paired with the 4500 slammer III or the 5500 paired with the 11 foot would be a great combo for the surf.
The 4500 would match up a little better because of weight and line capacity, the rod is currently out of stock. When it does become available we'll be able to tell the split of the 10 foot rod.
This is a 70/30 split
The 9 foot would be a good pair for the 6000k Saragosa.
The 10 foot is mh and the 11 foot is heavy.
https://www.starfishingtackle.com/stellar-surf-spinning
