Good Medium Setup for Surf Fishing

Winston

Bought the 2 piece 7' 6" model for surf fishing in South East Florida. Held up to multiple Jack Crevalle. The textured grip above the reel seat was useful to gain leverage while fighting the fish. Guide inserts were good quality, there were no cracks and they didn't pop out unexpectedly.

However, I felt the guide frames could be reinforced better, such as adding a third read more brace on the other side, like the largest guide near the reel seat.

I have a 8' 1 piece Star Stellar surf rod that I use for primarily Albie and Bonito from the surf. I also well as some back bay fishing. This surf rod does not disappoint it has good back bone and is very comfortable to fish with. The rod is light weight and allows for hours of fishing with little to no fatigue. Pick one up you will not be disappointed.

Tough Rods That Get The Job Done!

I cannot say anything bad about these rods. I bought 3 1 piece rods, 2 x 7'6 and one 8'. They are incredible. The 8' is my favorite for casting 2 oz kastmaster style spoons. They cast far. I have them all paired with Slammer III's. Perfect match for the surf and jetties, tanks. I've had them a while now and they take a beating and the guide rigs stay on. I'm so glad I upgraded to read more these from chain store cheapies.

So I don't know how it handles any size fish just yet because I'm the only guy in NJ that didn't go on the recent bite as of late. Soon tho, if it's anything like other Star products it's wonderful. I've never had any problems with their rods.

Great for the money

The SG76IS is great for fishing back bays with smaller lures and can handle days in the surf when it’s not too rough. It’s rated to two ounces but I wouldn’t think to throw that much on it.

8' 1pc still best feeling rod I own. Have 8,9 2pc rods but the 80is model can handle big drum along with small eatable panfish. Light but strong . Put penn slammer 4500 on it!! Da bomb

I was looking for a replacement of an old light action shorter (71/2 ft.) surf rod that I've had since the 70's! It took a while to find, but the star stellar lite fit the bill perfectly! I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it will be great. I can't wait to try it out hopefully this spring in Florida casting jigs for pompano in the surf. The rod it's self has great components and read more is well built. Well worth the money!

Favorite 2 piece surf rod

Jerry

I love this rod. Short butt length. Big guides, none of that silly micro stuff. Can throw 3/8-1.5oz. I use this rod to throw small bucktails, sp minnows and plastics in the NJ surf. Super fun to fish and handles keeper stripers without trouble. It is on the moderate-fast side, don't expect a very fast rod. It allows you to make far casts without much effort. It is just right for read more smaller presentations and I am super picky about rods.
