Amazing Rod !

David

One of the best rods I’ve ever owned. Casting distance is incredible and it has enough power to set the hook at the end of a lone cast. If I have anything negative to say it’s that I have felt lighter rods but only by a small margin. Having the right equipment really makes a huge difference when fishing artificials for hours at a time.

Super lightweight and very strong. I casts very far. I paired my rod up with the Shimano Spherose SW6000. A very good combination. I also did some custom alterations to the handle and butt. Checkout the before and after pictures.

Super light and strong. There is nothing this 9 ' rod couldnt handle. Does get a little heavy after the 20th cast but worth every penny for this size rod.

I have 3 Star Stellar Light rods. I liked them so much bought this in 8' 1 piece. It is my absolute favorite rod. You can feel everything and it is very light and well made. I cannot say anything bad about it. I've been using a saragosa 6000 with it. Works great but not the ideal reel for it as the saragosa makes it wobble. I'm looking for something else that compliments the light read more weight, maybe a certate LT or a Stradic FL. Anyway, don't hesitate to buy. Plus it comes with a free reel right now!!

Amazing rod! I can’t say how much I love the VPRs. This is perfect for everything from throwing Flairhawks for big bulls and Snook down to smaller jerkbaits in the surf searching for blues and jacks.

Just received the VS1530S11VPR surf rod today.I am amazed by the high quality and workmanship in this rod.I paired it with a STAR S8000 reel which is equally impressive. Can't wait to throw some large jigs and plugs for some striper action at the Cape cod canal.

Great Surf Rod

This rod is amazingly light and casts great due to the solid backbone. Tip is responsive so you can detect when you have fish on in a multi-rod spread. Some have expressed concern about the single foot guides but after using the rod on several outings I have had no problems with the Fuji guides and I will do a follow up in a year to report on how they hold up. The guides do a read more great job of eliminating wind knots, I have yet to get my first one. Even though this rod is only 11 foot long it casts farther than my 12 foot models of another brand. I was impressed with how quickly Tackle Direct got the rod to me in Florida. I ordered it at 11:00 PM on a Thursday night and I had it the next Monday. The rod came to me in a "bomb" proof cardboard tube and it was wrapped inside on the tip and butt in bubble wrap. I think you could have driven a car over it and not damaged the rod. Great product and buying experience.

Asked by Jon K 4 years ago

Hello, I purchased the 9' VPR and planned to pair it with the Tsunami SaltX 4000. With the SaltX on back order I am now looking at the Van Staal VR. Which size VR would you recommend? Surf fishing beaches and rocky structure, not canal conditions.

Brian 4 years ago

The VR50 will be the closest size to that Tsunami SaltX you planned on going with originally, and would match up well with the 9' VPR.

Asked by jim biliouris 4 years ago

Which of these rods would you recommend for fishing the Cape Cod Canal (plugging & jigging) ?  looking for one rod to handle both options.

Brian 4 years ago

The 10'6" MH would be the best bet to do a bit of both. The 11' is also an option, best for your heavier plugs and jigs.

Asked by Leo 3 years ago
