Great rods!

I got the 7’6” 3/8-13/4 rod for casting for snook and Redfish in south Florida as well as Spanish and pompano and even bonita from the panhandle piers. The rod does not disappoint. The rod is very light and balanced well with a 3000 Stradic. Very light tip allows you to feel everything while the powerful butt let’s you control big fish. I even caught a 20# king salmon here read more in Michigan and the rod handled the fish easily.
The rod does not feel as fast as the other Star rods but it cast lures farther with little effort. I highly recommend the VPR rods!

Great inshore rod

I’ve been using the 7’ rated 3/8-1 1/4oz for a season now and it’s a great rod.. I fish it more like a 1/4-3/4oz rod, but it handles 1oz fine. The action is a little softer than I like for jigging but it’s still extremely sensitive in that role. Great for throwing light stuff like mirrolures, metals and soft plastics. It handles flounder/stripers/bluefish up to 24” with no read more problem and will handle bigger fish as well.

Great

Used one of these for pot hopping and it worked very well, great rod

Light, strong, extreme ergonomic, and looks very sharp.

One of the best feeling fishing rods I’ve ever owned. No complaints.

Great performing rod, very light!

These are great rods. They are very sensitive and light. I wasn’t sure how I would like a split handle, but I love it.

Unfortunately we do not carry the 7ft 6 model.

Asked by Rob 2 years ago

Would this pair with a
Penn SLAIV4500DX Slammer IV DX Spinning Reel

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Rob, The Star Rods VPR Spinning Rods would be a little too light for the Slammer 4500. Instead I would recommend a Star Rods VPR Boat Spinning Rod. Specifically a Star Rods VB1225S70 VPR Boat Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/s

Would the 7 foot 6 heavy model pair well with the van staal vr50 fishing for bigger Spanish mackerel using 1 oz gotchas?

The Star Rods VI1020S70G VPR Spinning Rod is going to be a much better match to your reel and will be a better rod Spanish Mackerel.Â
