Great all around rod!

William

Picked one up last year, never had such a quality rod. Use for freshwater bass in the Northeast. Caught some great fish on it, throwing spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, texas rigs, swimjigs, even drop shots. Super sensitive, but super strong. Dragged some big ones out the weeds with it. Great all-around rod.

My 4th St. Croix and it performs exactly as you'd want. Light and sensitive w/ enough backbone for larger redfish.

Rod can do it all

Love the 8' versions to do it all. Set at a price point that makes it easy to get into a premium rod. Pretty tough guides!

Great inshore rods

I love the Tidewater series! Not only are they affordable but they are great inshore rods. I have 3 of them and use them for stripers, blues, albies, blackfish and other bottom fishing species. To me they are the perfect all around inshore rod.

Fantastic light rod for casting small lures, using it often for sight casting to flats feeders and couldn't be happier. Light to carry, casts very well and plenty of backbone for larger fish.

Good all around inshore rod

Very high quality. I compared this rod to St Croix Avid inshore models and decided I liked Tidemaster better. Light weight and has a nice soft action, compared to my St Croix 7' MH Premier.

Paired this with regular shimano Stradic, 15# fins windtamer, 25 # leader and throw jerkbaits up into Georgia marsh grass and crush the reds. 7 foot 6 inch mh fast. Too heavy for the light jigs I throw for trout but perfect for a big weighted jerk bait. I have also used it with a weighted popping cork. It has a little too stiff action for my liking for the popping cork. Medium fast read more would probably work better for my style.

Fantastic light rod

I have three of these rods primarily for casting for schooling stripers and shallow water casting. I've caught small perch to 23" stripers with this rod. It's a tough rod and has great sensitivity.

Best rods

I use these for inshore Reds, Flounder and anything else that may bite. I also throw them at a pond across the street from my house for bass when I can’t get out in the saltwater. Probably won’t ever buy anything other than the Tidemaster again.

Bought this rod to pair with my Saragosa 8000, awesome feel to it, tough as you need to be but never sacrificing the sensitvity.

Which rod would pair with a saragosa 6000sw casting to striped bass and little football tuna

Donald 6 years ago

Your going to want a rod that has a bit more backbone like the St. Croix TIS76HF Tidemaster Inshore Spinning Rod. That rod would match well for the application your using the setup for.

Asked by Jack 12 years ago

I fish in tampa bay for trout and reds. I use a lot of topwater baits. Which rod action and power should I use?

Customer Service 12 years ago

A medium power, moderate action would be great for for topwater reds and specks.

I fish from a bridge rt.50 ocean city what tip action would be best mod. or fast

Customer Service 12 years ago

As we get deeper into the fall bigger bass are going to begin to hold around the rt.52 bridge into Ocean City. I would go with the TIS70MHF. This rod has the power to handle fish around structure but an action capable of throwing lighter jig heads and plu

Customer Service 11 years ago

I use the TIS70MF for the exact application you have mentioned and absolutely love it. They are a great "go-to" rod that can do anything in the back waters.

We fish on the flats in a 19.8 foot skiff for speckled trout and Redfish. We sling a cork and also jig without a cork. We have purchased two Shimano Stradic 4000FJ reels. Which St. Croix rods would you recommend.

Customer Service 11 years ago

Either a 7' medium light to medium or a 7'6" medium light to medium fast action rod would work great for flats fishing.

Customer Service 11 years ago

If you are looking to be primarily casting and fishing with lures, a good rod to pair this reel with would be a Penn Legion Inshore Rod. Either the 7' or 7'6" medium powered rod would balance out well. Take a look at PEN-1007 or PEN-1004. You can copy and

Asked by Paolo 9 years ago

I'd like to fish for barracuda and bluefish and maybe sea bass. What length and action I should chose? Which reel pair? I'll be fishing in ports and rocks up to less than 2 meters.

Frank 9 years ago

Paolo, I would recommend the 7ft heavy action tide-master, with a Shimano Stradic FJ 5000, Or a Penn Conflict 4000. Both reels will pair well with the rod and be excellent for the type of fishing you are going to do.

Asked by Mark 9 years ago

David 9 years ago

For a light shore setup I would recommend a Tidemaster with a Shimano Stradic 5000. It is the same size as the 4000 with just a slightly larger spool. I would put 20lb braid on it.

Asked by Dan Marinko 7 years ago

What guides are on the 7' med heavy tidemaster ? Is it the double or triple guides like on the mojo inshore?

Donald 7 years ago

St. Croix Tidemaster Inshore Spinning Rods have the hard aluminum guides with corrosion resistant frames.

Asked by Darian 7 years ago

Hi again, would the 8ft/medium model pair well with the shimano nasci 4000 with 20lb braid or will the medium light model pair better?

Devon 7 years ago

A Nasci 4000 would pair perfectly with either rod. I would select the appropriate rod by determining how heavy the lures you will be casting are and select the rod that falls within that range.

Asked by Justin 6 years ago

What rated tidemaster would you recommend for fluke fishing in the river/bay with 3/8 jig heads to up to 1 oz bucktails? Tidemaster good choice for inshore fluke jigging?

Devon 6 years ago

Either the medium or medium-heavy rod would be appropriate for your application. I personally would go with a medium because you could get away with using the 1 oz. bucktail more-so than you would the 3/8oz jig heads with the medium heavy. I'd suggest e

Asked by Kevin 4 years ago

How would a Stradic4000 and medium fast action be for inshore/bay fishing?

Ryan 4 years ago

There's not many inshore species that combo wouldn't put some damage on. It's a winner from Maine to Marathon.... You could fish 365 days a year down there with that set up.

Asked by Andy Davis 3 years ago

Would the 7’6†Lite moderate be a good slip bobber rod for fishing  walleye?  I know it’s designed for inshore fishing, and would it be good paired with a 2000/2500 series spinning reel either piscifun or shimano or pflueger?

Cory Comunal 3 years ago

Asked by John Dolee 6 years ago

Which spinning reel would you recommend for the TIS80HF model? I plan on using it on the jetty and surf. Iâ€â"¢m aiming for a light set up to reduce fatigue from hours of casting lures.

Bernie 6 years ago

I would look at the Shimano NASC5000XGFB NASCI Spinning Reel to pair with that 8 foot tidemaster inshore.

Asked by Junior d 6 years ago
