Light, strong with excellent action. These are one of the rods where you get A LOT of "bang-for-the-Buck"! Worth every penny..

First casting rod

Patrick

Not much experience with bait casters at the moment, but as a first timer I can say I feel like have had this rod set up for years. It's smooth, I can feel everything as I reel through. Highly recommend as a great all around rod.

Setup: 7 foot medium power fast action

Needed a replacement after 40 years

I fished with the same model from St.Croix for 40 years. When I broke the old rod this year I was very happy to see that St.Croix was still making this rod. Its great for casting the heavy Pike spoons we use when we travel to Canada. You have to love a quality company like St.Croix!

PC66MHF - Blackfish Special

Michael

Paired the PC66MHF with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500FJ and its the sweetest light tackle jigging blackfish setup I've fished. The MHF has enough backbone to really put the screws on bigger fish with just enough sensitivity to feel the subtle taps. Highly recommend it!

Finally found a 2 pc travel with a 1 pc action.

Was looking for a 2pc rod with backbone and sensitivity similar to my one piece casting rods. Found it in this rod. I bough this rod for travel but have kind of made it one of my go to rods as it's so nice. IT's a really nice rod and its made in the USA.

I own other St. Croix rods and have never been disappointed with the quality, action, sensitivity, or balance of any of them. This rod is no different, I have a Lews BB1 Pro mounted on it and its a match made in heaven for me. I havnt had a chance to fish with it yet, but Ive been pitching around the yard and this is going to be fun next spring.

Love the rod!!

Great light rod. Paired with a Avet SX and makes for a killer light combo. No problems fishing with that combo all day

St. Croix Premier Rod

Bought two Premiers. PC66MF for small crankbaits, PC66MHF for spinnerbaits. Excellent rods for the money. Very sensitive with plenty of backbone and a fast action.
Will cast 12-14# fluorocarbon line without any problems. Lighter than I thought they would be at this price point. St. Croix quality is exceptional across their full line.

Great for big Bass

I grabbed this rod at a local shop running a clearance on rods in stock. They were out of medium heavy power so I compromised and got their last heavy power Premier. I love this rod for Bass in heavy cover. It casts and handles like a dream, and I have boated dozens of "fair to good" Northern Pike! In my experience all the Premier series St Croix rods complain a little if you cast read more heavier lures, but stay in the recommended weight range and they are an affordable dream to fish with. I usually use this rod for larger jointed Rapala crankbaits and I'm very happy my local shop was out of my first choice of actions in this rod. Highly recommended!

Superior Rods

I recently purchased several additioanl St. Croix rods to accompany several others already owned. As in the past i have not been disappointed. The St. Croix line of rods simply cannot be beat. They are strong, well made, balanced and a great product. I use my rods primarily for inshore snook, tarpon and redfish where good power is needed and St Croix rods deliver quality results.

Wondering what reel anyone is pairing with the ML casting rod here, and what applications, wondering if you're trying to cast 1/8 oz jigs or less how nice of a casting reel you'd need. Has to be saltwater safe for inshore.

Rebecca 6 years ago

A few reel suggestions our customer's have paired the St. Croix Premier Casting Rod 7' ML are the Daiwa Coastal TWS Baitcasting Reels, and the Shimano Chronarch G Baitcasting Reels.
