It's good, sometimes

Liam

Use it for bass and blued mostly from the boat, the spinning setup is great for casting and whipping jigs around. My issue is with the lure loop on the base of the rod. The loop is so stinking big it catches my line as I'm reeling. The line laps onto the spinning reel but if it even slaps the rod it gets caught somehow, so i ripped the lure loop off.

Fantastic Rod!!

Light weight, stout with enough black bone to throw/jig BFT off the cape!

Excellent feeling rods.

So far so good. Rods feel good while jigging. Also use them for throwing baits and live bait.

Love St. Croix

This is my second Mojo Salt rod and I must say I’m impressed with how light and strong it is. I ordered the Medium Moderate Fast and paired with a Seigler Small Game Narrow and love it! I will definitely be buying a X or XX heavy next.

Amazing kayak setup

This rod feels everything. It's a great kayak rod in the 6'6. Great for all around fishing inshore or back bay. Great deal can't go wrong with this rod.

Great rods!

Used these for a few years - solid rods and dependable!

Light but strong

Sebastien

The rod is very light for the kind of backbone it has. Can also be used for light trolling and jigging in deep water.

My new favorite

Scott

This rod is awesome. Super responsive and has a lot of backbone... I love it so much I may buy another and set it up with a conventional set up.

My Favorite Rod

I use this rod for vertical jigging at the nearshore reef. I recently caught a 4' Hammer Head Shark. He put up quite the fight but he was no match for this rod and VS reel. After a brief fight, I cranked him up and was able to release him. I've caught many size and species on this rod. Great rod!

Strong rod

Rod is strong/super light but the holds for the guides are pretty small for fluorocarbon leader or top shot monofilament line.

Great rod

St Croix Mojo Jig Rods Questions and Answers

Ask a Question

Asked by Ryan Rad 3 years ago

Can this rod be used for slow pitch jigging?

Cory Comunal 3 years ago

Yes these can be used for slow pitch jigging.

Asked by Michael R Benzon 7 years ago

Hi, I am considering the St Croix MJJC66MHMF rod. I want a compact rod that I can maneuver easy on a skiff in the NJ bay or on a larger party boat where I need to fish around other anglers. I want something that I can jig a hi/low lightweight bucktail wit

Donald 7 years ago

The St Croix MJJS66MHMF Mojo Jig Spinning Rod is a good choice of a rod to go along with a smaller Shimano saragosa or a Penn Spinfisher V.

Asked by pw 7 years ago

The St.Croix 5'8 XH spinning rod is rated for 80-200lb. Braid. What spinning reel (if any), could handle 80-200lb braid?!?

Devon 7 years ago

I'd suggest the Slammer III 10500 or something in a similar size range.

Asked by Andy 6 years ago

How does this rod compare to the Shimano trevala S? Looking to try more butterfly jigging for fluke and sea bass this summer of jersey shore in 40-90 foot. Going to put a sustain 5000 on it. What rod would better handle better?

Devon 6 years ago

The Mojo Jig would be more comprable to the original Trevala than it would be to the Trevala S. The rod is not as lightweight and the blank is not as thin as the Trevala S.

Asked by Jim 6 years ago

How would the mojo jig 6â€â"¢6†m rod do for party boat fishing for fluke in NJ?

Donald 6 years ago

The 6'6'' M would be a good party boat rod for fluke fishing in NJ. A good reel to match with it would be a Penn Slammer 4500 for spinning or the Avet SX for conventional setup.

Asked by JEFFREY T PEPPER 6 years ago

i have a shimano torium 20 with 30# pp that I use for striper fishing but i would like a new rod. What mojo would you recommend? I mainy use 6/8 oz jigs and live line.

Devon 6 years ago

Based on the weight of the jigs you'll be using I'd suggest the Medium-Heavy (model number MJJC66MHMF).

Asked by Bart 4 years ago

Looking for a conventional jig rod for amberjack and YFT up to 100lbs. Would Mojo Jig be a good match? If so, which model?

Rebecca Redington 4 years ago

These rods will be a good match. The MJJC66MHMF model would be the best selection.

Asked by Daniel 4 years ago

I need a reel to match avet jx raptor. Most of my jigs in the 150 to 260 range. My line is 65lb power pro. Which of your jigging rods would you suggest for jigging and bottom fishing.

Brian 4 years ago

We would recommend the 6'6" MH if you are going to be doing a mix of jigging and bottom fishing.

Asked by Matthew Olson 3 years ago

Do the medium action rods have gimbal butts? Or is it just on the heavy action rods?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

The gimbals only come on the H and XH models.

Asked by Carter 4 years ago

Which would be a good fit for a Okuma andros 12II? Used for jigging and bottom fishing for snapper and grouper and deep dropping for tilefish?

Will this pair well with a shimano saragossa 10000?

Billy - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

You could certainly pair a 10000 Saragosa with these rods, it may be a little heavy for the lighter versions though.

Bernie 5 years ago

They would fit but that rod is to small for the Makaira

What would happen if I used a heavier sinker than what the rod is rated for ?

Bernie 5 years ago

The rod would not perform as it was designed to do.
