Hand down the best rods I have ever fished

Danny H.

So as of yesterday I have completed my collection I now own the 7’6” ML, 7’6” M, 7’6” MH and the 8’ H in these rods all paired with Van Staal VR series reels 2 VR50 a VR75 and a VR125 and they will handle anything the Florida gulf coast can throw at them bull reds to giant AJ, tarpon and cobia, speckled trout and grouper. All I can say is, if the Tugg is your drug these are read more a must have. Oh and did I mention I own the 8’H and 7’6” MH casting models paired with Avet SXJ two speed reels and my go to shark rod is the 8’6XH Musky tournament paired with the Avet LX raptor. Model.

Best Inshore Rod I've Used

By far the best inshore rod I've used. As always St Croix does not disappoint. I have the 7' medium fast. The rod is extremely light and has great backbone. Great for pitching a jig off a dock.

Perfect

Excellent rod from tip to butt. Strong, light, and sensitive. I use it in fresh- and salt-water as my all-around go-to rod (7 6'' MF).

Awesome rod

Excellent Rod

I love the way this rod feels. Sensitive but with enough back bone to haul big blues in. Wish I had 4-5 more.

Love it

I simply love this rod, the feel, the action and the company behind it. I have 2 of the legend tournament and have been using them a lot lately. I though about getting some custom rods made, and still may one day. However I just don't see the point right now as these work great, and custom built rods will likely cost an extra 100 at least.

All around great rod

Got this rod in 7' MLF paired with a stradic ci4+, super light and sensitive, yet maintains a great backbone. My favorite setup so far. Makes long days on the water great.

FOR THE 8 FT HEAVY ACTION CASTING AND SPINNING ROD WOULD THE 400 PENN SQUALL FOR THE CASTING ROD AND THE SHIMANO 5000 FOR THE SPINNING ROD BE A GOOD COMBINATION.

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Bill,<p>The St. Croix Legend Tournament Inshore spinning rod LTIS80HF will pair nicely with a Shimano 5000 or 6000 size reel, like the Saragosa SW.  The St. Croix Legend Tournament Inshore casting rod LTIC80HF will pair nicely with the 400 size of the Pe

Asked by Don Webber 6 years ago

Would a 7' ML fst or xfst inshore rod make a good drop shot rod. Is the inshore lable because it's salt water resistant?

Devon 6 years ago

Given the specs on this particular rod I'd say it would ideal for drop shot and lighter baits. Generally when rods are considered inshore rods it means that the components will resist corrosion and would function just as well for freshwater applications.

Asked by Wil 6 years ago

The last Legend Inshore had a zirconium guide but this one has an Aluminum Oxide ringg. Is this a downgrade or will this also handle braid?

Donald 6 years ago

The St. Croix Legend Tournament Inshore Spinning Rods will be able to handle braided line as well as mono filament line.

Asked by NHIA VANG 6 years ago

Which Stella SW model would pair well with the 8' H model?

Tyler 6 years ago

I would recommend going with the 4000-5000 size stella

Asked by Mike 5 years ago

Does the 7â€â"¢6†MH have a lighter tip than the 7â€â"¢ MH. Which would be a better choice for Louisiana bull reds up to 25 pounds throwing 1/4 ounce jigs and grub trailer.

Rebecca 5 years ago

The 7' and 7'6 Medium-Heavy rods both are great choices for your application. The two rods do have different handles, the 7' MH has a smaller handle length than the 7' 6 MH. The rods do have the same power and action, the tip of the rods are the same.

Asked by Travis Taylor 5 years ago

What would be a good reel and size for LTIS 7'6"MF for all around use? Drum and spec.

Ricky 5 years ago

I would recommend a 3500 or 4000 size reel.

WOULD THE 7'6" MH PAIR WELL WIITH THE VAN STAAL VR50?

Rebecca Redington 4 years ago

That combo will pair well.

Bernie De Graaf 4 years ago

The saragosa would be a little on the large size for this rod. I would look at a 4000 or 5000 shimano Nasci to pair with it

Asked by Ben C Anderson 4 years ago

Hello. Looking for a 7ft medium/light action spinning rod for inshore fishing. Hoe does the Legend Tournament Inshore differ from the Legend Elite rods? Is it just the corrosion resistant guides or are there other differences? Thanks so much.

Rebecca Redington 4 years ago

Both rods have corrosion resistant guides. The Legend Tournament has Kigan Master hand zero tangle guides with strong aluminum oxide rings and titanium frames. The Legend Elite has Fuji Torzite tangle free guides with titanium frames which have 100% corro

Asked by David Saito 3 years ago

Is this the newer model with a blue blank?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

Yes, these rods are constructed with a dark/navy blue blank.

Asked by Ray 3 years ago

I'm considering this rod in the MHF 7'6" (LTIS76MHF) for inshore reds, trout, etc.  Would a Shimano Stradic FL 3000 pair OK with this or would this rod be too stiff?

Billy - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

This rod would be perfect for single hooked baits for inshore applications, it may be a little stiff for smaller treble hooked baits

Asked by Francisco 3 years ago

Would the 7/ 7’6 ML paired up with a Stradic FK 3000 be suitable for striped bass fishing or would a bump to a medium be better?

Paul Olah 3 years ago

You'll want to bump up to the medium it'll be a much better pair for your reel and be a better rod for Striped Bass.

Asked by Mike 4 years ago

Would a Shimano Saragossa 5000 match up well with the 7’6†MH casting bucktails to cobia?

Bernie De Graaf 4 years ago

That would make a great combo for Cobia

Asked by marc 6 years ago

Could I use the 7'6'' med hvy to cast live baits and topwaters to schoolie size tuna? (yellowfins to 25lbs)

Bernie 6 years ago

The eight foot, heavy fast would be a much better option.

Asked by Mike Pevey 6 years ago

I want to match this with a Shimano sustain FI or the new Stella fj for a really light weight set up for trout and redfish using 15lb braid . Should I go with a 7ft medium or medium light ?

Bernie 6 years ago

I would go with the medium the weight will be the same between the ml and m just the medium will have more backbone.

Bernie 5 years ago

That would make a great combo
