I had both the older model and now the newer model. I crushed my older model fall of 2021 in my car door like a doof. St Croix has a great warranty, friendly and helpful customer service and for $50, to cover shipping, they replaced my old model for the new model. It was about a 4 to 5 month turn around.

Now for the rods. Amazing quality and performance. Im mixed on read more the guides, I really liked the older guides, but I believe with the newer guides I get about the same if not a little more casting distance. The grips really are great when my hands get wet and no slipping. Fighting power, blank recovery, sensitivity, bite detection and casting distance are spot on great. They really are amazing rods.

Best, sensitive, cast extremely far.

Overall great rod!

Picked up two of the 12 foot Heavies for sharks off the beach in FL. They cast well and can really put the pressure on a 100= lb tipper when combined with a Saragosa 25000. Only down side is the price but you get that awesome warranty!

One of the best factory rods out there!

I have three of the St. Croix legends, 10.6’ 11’, and a 12’ and they are the best money can buy for a factory rod. All the components on them are great and the fit and finish is top notch. I can say this because I have 2 CTS VT and 3 century sling shots which are all custom. However, out of al my 14 surf rods, the 12’ H legend surf is probably my got to rod.

HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE ANYTHING ELSE ON THE MARKET INC CENTURY.

I own 4 CTS surf rods , 3 Century surf rods , 1 ODM surf rod , 2 Lamiglas surf rods and 1 Black Hole surf rod and the Legend Surf's are on an entirely different level in quality , components and performance and I mean that sincerely.

They're the lightest surf rods you can buy when compared to the above mentioned rods even much lighter than the older CTS S-8 surf rods read more that were praised for being lightweight .

First let me say that if you're a beginner or even intermediate surf caster go with something else because it takes somebody who has truly mastered surfcasting on the highest level possible to really appreciate these rods they are that good.

Pair up a great spinner or conventional with the right line and you will refuse to ever use anything else and I sincerely believe that .

People who stick a Van Stahl or similar poor casting reel on it are really doing this rod a major disservice but stick a high end Shimano like a Stella or an Aero Technium or the long cast Ultegra's etc...and it can't be beat.

Excellent service

Does it worth the money?
$100 rod will probably do the similar job...

I can’t afford to buy Ferries, so I bought Legend instead

Plus It will last a long time, and if it breaks, the company will replace or fix it free - extra peace of mind

Sweet warranty

rod's really light, warranty is outstanding, customer service is worth buying one of these from great people

Incredible rods - Don’t believe what old timer say!!!

The legend series is exceptional! One of the best made, non-custom, surf-rods in the world. I own 6 of them (13’, 12’, 11’, 10,6’) and swear by them. They carry Ferrari-like components, they’re light, super strong... and contrary to what people say, super durable! Trust me, I’m not your average amateur angler. I’ve surfcast all around the world... from catching stripers on read more the east coast, to roosters in Baja... to drum in Uruguay... I take these rods with me everywhere I go without fail. Don’t believe the reviews from old salties. They just don’t like change. I also own custom Century rods, Breakaways, CTS, Zziplex, etc... but the st croix legend are still my go-to.

Decent Rod

the legend is a good surf rod. not a great surf rod. it does not hold up to the competition (CTS, Century, Lamiglas...) when it comes to castability and durability. St Croix surf rods have a great warranty program, but they do not hold up to the punishment from surf fishing the way the other manufacturers do. in saying that, they make for great eeling rods, since they excel read more in fighting fish and sensitivity. just make sure you understand what you're buying here, great feeling rod that casts ok, but will break at some point if you're putting stress on it.

Asked by Tony 3 years ago

So I've been thinking about picking the 9ft st.croix legends surf, but can't figure out a good reel, I tend to do more pier fishing so a van staal isn't really necessary. The choices i were looking at were the stella 6k, the saltiga bj4000.

Billy - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

You can't go wrong with either of those reels, the Stella has more drag and cranks in line slightly faster
