I love my trevala rods

Paired with an avet reel these are one of my favorite rigs for inshore striper, fluke, sea bass, whatever fishing. Strong, light, and responsive. Deserves a sixth star.

Good Multi-purpose Rod

I have two versions of this rod, the casting and the spinning, both 7ftMH. Extremely lightweight, very strong. Comfortable to hold, cast, and jig for hours. Holds a 4oz sinker with barely a bend. (Just know, the butt section of the casting rod is 19.5 inches to the trigger.)

More sturdy than you think

Really great rod for the money. Will withstand heavy load. Yellowfin/bigAJ/smoker kings no problem. Even caught big grouper off of wrecks with them.

I did buy this rod to use for tog....didn’t work well but I have found other uses for this rod. I’m pretty sure I could even put a big reel on her and jig tuna. Trevalas are with out a doubt the best rod I ever used

Strong rod

I paired this rod with conventional Shimano Speeds master 16II, 2-speed reel and caught 2 big striped bass 45 pound fish, it handled very well, I hope it can handle yellowfin tuna between 1500 pounds, but that I didn’t try it yet.

Asked by Silas 2 years ago

Can these rods be used for trolling artificials or bottom fishing or live lining? Im wondering if I could use them for Cobia on the Chesapeake. Would any of the models pair with a Seigler LGN?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Silas, The Shimano Trevala PX Jigging Casting Rods are specifically designed for vertical jigging but can also be used for bottom fishing application and live bait fishing applications. These would not be ideal for trolling. Instead I would recom

I have a Penn FTHII8XNSD Fathom II Star Reel. I would like to match this reel with the Shimano Trevala PX Jigging casting rod. The target fish would be close to shore in 100 to 300 feet of water.

Hi Danny, We recommend the Shimano Trevala PX Jigging rods in any size between 5ft 8in to 6ft 6in with a weight rating of 150g to 250g for your Penn Fathom II reel. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with! Tight lines! </

Hi Mehmet, The Shimano Trevala PX Jigging Casting rods are made more for fast vertical jigging. For your application I would recommend a slow pitch jigging rod such as the Ocean Tackle International Pitch Black Slow Pitch Jigging Rod series.

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

Davy,
The Shimano Trevala PX jigging rod TVXFC58H weighs 12oz. You can definitely pair a Shimano Tekota 400 with that rod for Striper fishing. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Asked by William 3 years ago

I am curious if the SHM-4071 would pair well with an Avet SXJ MC Raptor for both inshore and offshore trips. Figure a shorter rod would be better for balance and less fatigue and the 300g rating is appealing since we usually jig up to 10oz.

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

William,
The Shimano Trevala PX Jigging rod TVXFC58H will pair nicely with the Avet SXJ G2 6/4 MC Raptor for inshore and offshore fishing trips targeting fish up to 30/40lbs and jigs to 250g. If you are looking to fish with 250+g jigs then the Trevala

The original Trevala rods are designed for vertical jigging for larger species, whereas the S and PX versions are the spinning and casting models with a thinner blank that can still handle larger fish, but at a much lighter weight. The main difference wit
