When am looking for a rod for my tuna trip .I search to this site and discuss with so many other anglers for the opinion. But I can't confirm what I need for my reel and with in my budget. Afte that I talk with the customer care person with tackledirect and he helped me with rod .really appreciate for the your help and they are really knowledgeable people .this rod looks so thin read more and feels like not strong .but it's strong and easy to use .it UT my 85000 reel and it's works so prefect.realky worth for each money .100 % recommended for big game fish

Light and powerful

Usually pair this with a 2500 Stradic and it's light enough to jig all day without tiring my shoulder. Good sensitivity and plenty of backbone.

Perfect jigging rod

Great rod for jigging

Cool rod design. Strong guides. Very sensitive.

TVS-66MH

Having used it since August, almost once a week. Capable of everything, from porgies to cods, from 25 feet to 220 feet of water, equipped with different size of reels. Not a single issue happened.

Great quality for the price!

purchased the TVS66MH2 and have used it for close to 5 months on numerous trips. Love that it is a 70/30 2 pc which makes transporting it a bit easier, especially when the rod if being flown and there's usually a max length requirement. It's also quite durable as its fallen onto concrete, hit rocks, dropped on deck plenty of times, etc... and considering it's price, i'd say it's read more a great buy! Currently have it paired with a daiwa 5000 bg and it works nicely.

Great Rod

TV66MH Is a great rod. Has a nice parabolic bend, very light, and good backbone. Would pair it up with a 6000 Saragosa.

Good light jigging rod

Pair with twin power sw 6000, has worked great. It’s kind very bowl but i got decent big fishes

Great Rod for pier/bridge fishing for snook.

Glen

This is hands down the best rod I have ever used for catching snook off of bridges and piers using live baits. Great soft tip action to feel the thump of the hit and the backbone to pull them out from the pilings. I use the spin 7 ft ML with 30lb braid and it can handle most snook. If I am targeting bigger fish, I then use the 6.6 M with 50lb braid. Cant say enough about these read more rods especially for the price.

Stunning Rods

I have used the 7ft Medium-light and the 6.6ft Medium heavy for years and they are great. I use them on the kayak for jigging and throwing lures for tuna, mackerel, GT's and much more. Never had one fail. Very light but strong rods.

TVS60H - Great rod for heavier jigs and big fish

Joe

I bought the TVS60H for wreck jigging in the Keys. This model is heavier and stouter than the 66MH I also have so it's better for the bigger jigs.

It's still quite sensitive and light, but isn't great for light jigs. It handled blackfin tuna, large cudas, and medium AJ's no problem. I did still get smoked a few times though but not because of the rod!

A read more dedicated jigging rod is so much nicer than trying to make due with a regular rod. The performance of the Trevalas for the price is unbelievable.

Great quality

strong rod great for jigging, paired well with Saragossa its a beast combo. I do wish the foam grips were a bit better quality than what they are.

Alex T 3 years ago

Unfortunately these rods have been discontinued in favor of the new Trevala PX lineup of rods.
For the 2500 reels i would recommend a 6'3 or 6'6 Light or ML rated rod, and for the 4000 i would recommend a Medium or MH rated

Hi, I want to buy this rod together with a daiwa saltiga SA30 and 1800m of Daiwa boatbraid 60lbs. Could you ship to Columbus, OH? How soon could you ship and will you ship a onepiece rod in a tube?

Customer Service 10 years ago

We will ship same day. If everything is in stock, you should have it in 2-3 business days. Yes, the rod would come in a tube.

I have 2 questions: 1- How is the Shimano Trevala F compared to Shimano Trevala B, which one is better 2- What is the recommended length of the rod for boat fishing, 6'6' or 6'9"

Customer Service 9 years ago

The Trevala F is an upgrade to the original B. The following is from the Shimano website; Shimano has engineered the next generation of TC4 Construction. This new construction uses a high carbon butt section fused together with a TC4 tip section. This ne

Rebecca Redington 5 years ago

The Trevala will be good for speed jigging, but we do not recommend you use this rod for surface lures. This rod would be too short. For Jigging, the 6'6 30-65 would be good or the 7' models will be fine.

Asked by Shawn Commerse 5 years ago

I'm looking to buy this rod (tvs70ml), I need to know what's a good reel for this rod to fish the Tortugas? (Snappers, grouper and small yellowtail tuna). Thanks in advance

CHARLES 5 years ago

You cant go wrong with a Shimano Saragosa. Depending on line capacity and the amount of drag you want, a 6000 should balance nicely.

Asked by Sam 5 years ago

What size saragosa would you pair with the 7' medium?

CHARLES 5 years ago

I would suggest with a 5k or a 6k, depending on the actual weight of the rod. There is a significant jump in weight when you go from a 6k to an 8k, but with a heavier blank, it might still balance ok.

Asked by Stephen 5 years ago

Hello. Which model do you think would match up best with Shimano Spheros 10000SW. Thinking the 66MH but not sure. Thank you.

CHARLES 5 years ago

That should work out quite nicely!

Asked by Mohamed 4 years ago

If I bought 2 tvs70ml would you pack it in one or two tubes?, and what would the total weight to be?

Brian 4 years ago

2 would be packed within 1 rod tube. Total weight including the tube would be around 6lbs.

Shimano Trevala rods are great for so many of your inshore applications including jigging.

Would the Trevala TVS66MH2 pair with the Shimano Saragosa 20000? If not what's the best pair for that reel?

The 20000 is a massive reel and would be to big for the tvs66mh2

TVS66MH with 65lb braid to jig for midshore size Tuna, would you go with the Fin-Nor LT100 or Quantum Cabo80?

Alex T 3 years ago

Cant go wrong with either reel mentioned. Both very reasonably priced for the strength and durability you will get from both reels
Only advantage the Fin-Or reel gives you is increased spool capacity

This will be a good match up as long as you stay with 50-65lb braid. If you plan on using the reels full range 30-65lb then I would recommend getting TVS66M.
