High Quality...Low Price

Amazing rod for the money. Have the 6'6MH paired with an accurate Boss Fury 500 for dropping heavy jigs down deep. Caught my biggest AJ on this rod and it handled it no problem. Highly recommend this rod if you're just getting into to jigging or if you want a high quality rod for a lower cost.

Great for snatching Drum

I use this paired with a Torium 16HG no problem hauling Stripers and Drum over 50lbs. Great strength to weight ratio. Looking forward to trying it for tuna.

Trevala TVC66MH

I use the Trevala TVC66MH with a Shimano Tekota 500 for bottom fishing. Able to fish comfortably for Black sea bass, flounder and bluefish using 8oz to hold bottom.

Travala MH

I purchased this rod for a trip out on the Constitution for tuna. Unfortunately, the rod I purchased was a little too light to bring on the trip. This rod (even the heavy) is very light in the hand and would be good for anything up to 50lbs. I just would not feel comfortable battling anything in the 80+ range, there's just not enough backbone to pry them bruisers up from the depths.

Great Rod for jigging!

Trevala light 7ft rod

Great rod. Strong and light. Love this rod for hyannis mass porgys and seabass fishing. very sensitive to feel the bites and strong enough to pull in whatever bites. Again great rod

Fantastic rod

I have 2 of these rods paired with a Penn baitcaster and an Avet. They have a great feel for the bite and backbone to bring up large fish.!

Nice Jigging Rod

Nick

This is a nice rod at a decent price. Will use for jigging as well as a pitch bait rod as I’m still on a budget and don’t have dedicated outfits for everything.

Trevela-best rod for the money

I own 6 of these. They are incredible rods. We have never had a failure on tuna up to 100lbs.

Asked by Brandon 8 years ago

Would the 6'6'' Medium heavy or heavy be good for party boat porgy/sea bass fishing using weights up to 12 oz

Tyler 8 years ago

Brandon, Hello the medium heavy would work but i would suggest going with the heavy model.

Asked by Robert Mickiewicz 7 years ago

Does the trevala two piece rods come with a rod tube? If not, what is recommended for them for airline carry on?

Devon 7 years ago

The two piece model (TVC66M2) does not come with a rod tube. It is a 70/30 split and the longest section measures 55 in. This may be a little too long for an airline carry-on. I'd suggest contacting the airline in which you are flying to inquire about

Asked by ryan 7 years ago

what length rod do you recommend for bottom fishing in the North East and occasional stripper/bluefish

Devon 7 years ago

I'd recommend a 6'6" to 7' model for your applications. Models TVC66M or TVC66MH would be the best fit.

Asked by Clint 7 years ago

What is the length of each of the 2 pieces for the TVC58XXH2?

Donald 7 years ago

The length of the butt section is 27 inches and the length of the tip end is 44 inches.

Asked by Erik 7 years ago

Can the tvc5'8" xxh paired w talica 20 be used for shark fishing. Will the reel fit in reel seat

Devon 7 years ago

After checking we can assure that the Talica 20 will fit into the reel seat of the TCV58XXH.

Asked by Dave 7 years ago

Looking for best rod to match up with Avet SX for California Yellowtail.....Toss up between Trevala and new Lamiglas Blue Water?

Devon 7 years ago

The Blue Water and the Trevala are two of your best options in their price range. Either one will pair well with an Avet SX.

Asked by Joe 7 years ago

I have a Calcutta 700 would these be a good match for large rock fish , 20 to 40 pounds

Devon 7 years ago

The Trevala Jigging Rods would pair up well with the Calcutta 700 and would be a great choice for jigging applications for rock fish.

Asked by Jim 7 years ago

I am looking to get a trolling/bottom fishing setup that is easy to travel/fly with. I am looking at the 5'8" extra heavy two piece matched with a Tac 12. Any other suggestions as to a good combo?

Donald 7 years ago

The 5'8'' XXH 2 pc with a Tac 12 will pair nicely together trolling and bottom fishing. It will also be easy to travel with. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.

Asked by Johnny 7 years ago

I would like to pair a TVC5'8H with a Penn Fathom 40N for Amberjacks in the Gulf of Mexico fishing wrecks. Is this a good combo?

Donald 7 years ago

The TVC5'8H with a Penn Fathom 40N would be a good combo fishing for amberjacks in the gulf.

Asked by Bill 7 years ago

If left in a rod holder will the butt section break if a big grouper or shark eats the bait? I'm thinking of the extra heavy rod, 65 pound power Pro and 80-100 pound leader set at 20-22pounds of drag.

John 7 years ago

Anything is possible Bill, but I hope it holds!

Asked by Nesto 7 years ago

What would you recommend for most versatile level-wind saltwater reels to pair with a TVC-66MH? Combo will be used with power pro a mostly for fishing over wrecks & artificial reefs 80'-120' water for flounder, sea bass, drum, toug, blues, and strippers

Devon 7 years ago

If you would prefer a baitcasting reel I would recommend the Shimano Calcutta B 400. If a star drag conventional reel would be more to your liking I would recommend the Shimano Tekota 300. Both reels would match up will with the TVC-66MH.

Asked by Chris D 7 years ago

Would this be a good rod to use for trolling mojos for striped bass? Also what reel would you suggest for the same application? Thanks

Donald 7 years ago

The rod would be a good match paired with a Shimano TLD 20 for the application your looking to use the combo for.

Asked by Jeffey Neal 9 years ago

what would make a good bottom fishing rod 100 feet to 200 feet in depth need to use 3 to 6 ozs of lead

Frank 9 years ago

Jeffery, The 6'6 heavy or 6'0 extra heavy would be an excellent rod for bottom fishing with 6 oz. Also, on the extra heavy you could go up to 10 oz.

Asked by Steven 9 years ago

Any suggestions -- Looking to fish both Montauk (stripped bass drift w/ 3-5 oz diamond jigs and live eel at night ~ 60ft deep) and drift/bottom reefs in south East Florida (snapper, grouper, etc) in 100-140 ft. Will probably pair with a Torium 20 or 30.

Frank 9 years ago

Steven, you would need to go with a heavy or Xtra heavy due to the fact they are the only models in the Trevala Line that come equiped with a gimbal.

Asked by Kevin 9 years ago

Is the 2 piece a 50/50 split on these rods?

Brandon 9 years ago

Hello Kevin. On the two 6'6" versions of this rod the split is 70/30 and on the 6'0" and 5"8 model the split is 60/40. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact us!

I want to pair an Avet 5.8 MC with a new rod for fishing wrecks and chunking for tuna. I was looking at the 5'8" Med H. Is this the best choice?

Customer Service 10 years ago

No. This is not a good chunking rod. We suggest going with a Shimano Tallus (SHM-2433).

Asked by Sean 10 years ago

hello! How do you feel about pairing the Shimano Torium 30 with tis rod? Plan on using Flat Sided Butterflies. Thank you for your time!

Customer Service 10 years ago

That would be a great combo!

Asked by Sean 10 years ago

Would the TVC66H be a good match for the Shimano Tyrnos 20 2 speed? I plan to use it for deep off shore jigging bottom. Thank you for your time.

Customer Service 10 years ago

Yes. It it would be a great match for that reel and that application.

Asked by Joe.G 10 years ago

Have a Torium 16 reel. Would you recommend the 6'6'' Med or the 7'0" Med/light rod for New Jersey fluke and blues?

Customer Service 10 years ago

The 6'6" Medium would be best for the Torium 16 and the better choice for wreck fishing for bluefish and flounder. The 6'6" has a little more backbone to be able to handle fishing heavier buck tails and deeper water.

I have a couple of Trevalas that I use for jigging in FL and love them! However I just moved up north to VA and am getting into this rockfish thing - so my question: would one of the Trevalas (heavy or extra heavy with the gimbal butt) be a solid choice

Ricky 5 years ago

Yes, that would be perfect for that style of fishing.

I fish in the UK, do a bit of bottom fishing using weights of between 6 and 12 oz depending on tides, but also want to use same rod for jigging with jigs from 80g upto 250g. I have a talica 12 2speed to match it too.

What rod would you pair with a torium 16 for mostly jogging for yellowtail

I feel like the Medium-Heavy would most likely be the best fit, but the best way to determine which rod is right for you is to select the model where the jig weight rating falls within the range that you will be using most.
