Nice combo, but a Tekota 700 would have been a great option.

The Star rod works wonderfully for bunker spoons (I suspect equally well for most wire lining crankbaits). The Tekota 800 did it's job smoothly. I give this review 4 stars because the 800 is larger than I needed, the 700 would have been a better fit. Unfortunately the 700 isn't available as a combo and the price reduction made it hard to pass up. With 100 yards of 40 lbs Dacron… read more backing and 300' of 40 lbs monel I filled the spool only about half full. I'm going to reload the backing in an effort to bring the wire closer to the top of the spool.

Yes, we spool mono for free when reels are purchased if you wanted braid you would just have to pay by the spool.
