This should be the perfect rod for kokanee salmon fishing. Our lakes are froze right now can't wait to use it this spring

Nice rods, other than guides falling out.

I purchased 5 of these rods to set up for Striper trolling. Before I even put the rods on the water, I noticed that random guide inserts were missing or from many of the rods. I am not sure if they arrived like that, or if they fell out while I was mounting the reels on them. Either way, I have a bunch of these rods that are missing guides before I ever took the rods on my boat. read more They work fine, but I'm not too happy about the guides...

Great rod for the price the medium action is good for bigger fish and the light weight will be great for rainbow Nd brown trout, great feel and Shia no quality is number 1

Love the TDR but the only thing is they need to increase the quality of the eyes in the guides in my opinion

Great product and service!

These rods are the best value for the money I've seen. I have a couple of the older style but these new ones look much better and you beat the value. Very good service from Tackle Direct as well. Very pleased.

Hi Eric, The Shimano TDR Trolling Rods would be ideal for downrigger fishing applications. Specifically I would recommend a Shimano TDR90H2C TDR Trolling Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-tdr90h2c-tdr-trolling-rod.html Th

Is this rod good for trolling flashers and weights from 5 - 16 ounce? If so which model? Thanks

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Henry, According to Shimano, The Shimano TDR Trolling Rods would not be able to handle 16oz for this series. I would recommend a Shimano SJCM80XHB Sojourn Conventional Muskie Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-sjcm80xhb-sojourn-c

Asked by Finman 3 years ago

Which fits musky downrigger trolling the best? Med heavy or the 9' heavy? I don't want to oversize the rod, or undersize it if a bigger than avg musky strikes

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

Finman,
For trolling Musky, the recommendation would be either the 8'6" or 9' MH Shimano TDR trolling rod. The length would depend on personal choice. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can assist you with.
