This rod is incredibly lite; with plenty of power to battle a 200 pound yellow fin with no issue what so ever!!!
Its worth the money,!!! paired with a Tiagra 50W it is a killer combination.

David 9 years ago

If you are looking for a reel for bigeye specifically you would probably want to check out the Shimano Tiagra 50LRSA. This reel has the body of a size 50 reel, but the drag curve of a size 80 reel. Great option for bigeye fishing. Check out the link below

What about for blue fin using talica 25ii ??

Donald 7 years ago

Depending on the size of Bluefin your targeting will determine the the size rod and reel you would need. This combo in particular would be great for blue fin fishing.

Asked by Bill Chadwick 6 years ago

I have this rod with bent butt as a package with the Beastmaster 9000. Just got a new boat and tried it in rod holders. I is too short to seat (hits on curve) does Shimano offer a longer bent but?

Donald 6 years ago

Unfortunately Shimano doesn't offer a longer bent butt. I would advise looking into a aftco bent butt that would possibly fit the rod. A #2 Aftco bent butt would work.

Asked by carter smith 6 years ago

would a shimano tiagra 50w work on this rod?

Ricky 6 years ago

Yes, on the two heavier models. I would not suggest the 50 on the lighter version rod.

I see they only have a 1 year warranty. Should that concern me? I don't want to buy a rod that's only going to last a few years....

Bernie 7 years ago

Shimano has changed their policy to a one year warranty but what they have not done is compromise their quality of rods and reels in anyway.

Asked by Jonboy 5 years ago

Can I get a straight butt for this rod or is that not a good idea?

Bernie 5 years ago

You can put a straight butt on this rod
