Awesome rod

Good all around rod. Works great from the kayak. Helped me pull two 20+ lb Mahi into my kayak no problems. Price is great. Won't break your wallet and can be a good little workhorse.

Great all around boat rod

I like this rod due to light weight. Seems to be well-constructed as well. I also have the same model rod in conventional. Would recommend to anyone looking for a mid-grade all around boat rod.

Great rod

I took this rod out as soon as I got it. Landed a lot of big stripers. Had plenty of backbone and casts great. I will definitely get another one as soon as they are in stock

What would the lure rating be for the medium rod?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Matt, Shimano does not have a weight rating for their Talavera Boat rods. We can assure that the rod will throw 1/2-2oz lures. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

Asked by Jake S. 2 years ago

would the 6.6 foot medium heavy be a good pair up for a 6k or 8k saragosa?

Huy - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Jake, We recommend getting the Shimano Saragosa in the 8000 size to balance out the rod and to offer comfortable capacity. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

I was looking at the 7ft medium and was wondering if it would be a good pair up for a shimano spheros sw 5000

Hi I apologise in advance but I actually have 3 questions. Im looking to get into striper boat fishing, I have a Shimano Stradic SW 6K (Same as Saragosa 6k) with 30lb braid so im wondering if...(1)what is the exact oz rating of this rod, doesnt say anywhe

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Jose, Based on your fishing application I would recommend the Shimano TES66HC Talavera Boat Spinning Rod. However this rod is only rated in a Heavy action which is rated for casting up to 2oz lures and would not be ideal for jigging lures over 2o

Asked by tnak 2 years ago

what would the lure rating for the 7 foot heavy be? Also would the 7 foot heavy pair up with a penn torque 5500 well?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

The Shimano Talavera Boat Spinning rods do not come with lure ratings. However, model: TES70HC should be able to cast lures between 3/4oz to 2oz with no issues. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

I have the Tallus MH 6, and also have the Talavera 6 inshore, and found it awesome this weekend In keys against small dolphin, but want to find out how heavy the Talavera versa Tallus ? I'm thinking about getting the Talavera boat rod to replace my Tallus

Paul Olah 3 years ago

From what I could find it looks like the Talavera Spinning rod is 10.6oz and the Tallus is 12.6oz.

The B indicates the models that were designed for general saltwater use and the C indicates rods that were specifically designed to be more of a boat rod.
