Original Power Pro is by far the best braid on the market in all respects. Power pro continues to dominate in all categories, from strength to endurance to color retention and beyond. I have been using this 15lbs to 20lbs braided line since it came out. Strong and tough to hook, fight and pull bass out of heavy weed cover. Great casting ability.

The 50 LB line test is perfect for both conventional and spinning reels on the offshore sea bass wreck trips in the fall. It's affordable since losing some to an occasional tangle or break off well above the 225 foot bottom won't break the bank. Always carry the spool on the trip since it does not take up a lot of space in the tackle bag just in case it is ever needed.

What is the best pound test to use for off-shore surf casting when using a Staal 250V series reel, matched with ODM 11ft Jigster rod. Primarily fishing AL and FL panhandle Gulf coast waters, and on occasion NC shore, and MA shore and canal for stripers.

50lb. test PowerPro would be good for the 250. You could also go up to 65lb. test if you'd like with slightly less line capacity than 50lb. test, but the 50 should be all you need.

I have never used braided line. Just wanted to try new things out. I use 40lb mono ande on most of my applications and wanted to know what lb test should i use for braided. I bottomfish and jig most the time.

What size to use will depend on multiple factors such as the reel you are using, your target species. If a 40 lb. mono is sufficient for you applications then I would generally recommend a 40 - 65 lb braid.

Because of the age of the reel, we are not 100% sure. It should hold at least 1500-1800 yards.
