It's a Penn, need I say more! Great rod with a strong backbone.

Works great for trolling live baits from kayak

David

I know this is a jigging rod, but I've been using it to troll live baits from my kayak in Hawaii. It's been great! Strong enough to horse in a hammer head to the kayak no problem. Great rod.

Incredible value

Great all around. Use mine for jigging, bottom fishing, and light trolling. Light weight and easy on your wallet. Like it better than many of my more expensive rods.

Penn Rampage Jigging Rods Questions and Answers

Ask a Question

Asked by Matthew 5 years ago

Looking to get a rod for bull reds. Normally id throw 5 oz but in a few scenarios id likely have to use 8 oz of weight. Would the 30- 80 lb rod be able to handle this if It were only for a very limited amount of days?

Bernie 5 years ago

Something like the Tsunami TSAWBCJ-701H Airwave Jigging Casting Rod would fit your needs.

Asked by Gowdy 6 years ago

Would the 6'4" MH make an ok trolling rod as well?

Bernie 6 years ago

The mh would make a good light duty trolling rod.

Asked by Casey 2 years ago

Can you troll with these rods using smaller diving plugs? Or can you live line mackerel with them?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Casey, The Penn Rampage Jigging Rods can be used for light trolling and live lining applications. I would recommend a Penn RAMJG3080C66 Rampage Jigging Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-ramjg3080c66-rampage-jigging-rod-conventional

Asked by James Porzucek 2 years ago

Will the RAMJG50100C62 match up with a Everol 50 wide Narrow?

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

James,
The Everol 50 trolling reel will be a bit much for the Penn Rampage jigging rod RAMJG50100C62. Something like the Avet MXL or MXJ would be a better fit for that rod. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Asked by Terry Mitchell 2 years ago

Can it handle 80lb braid

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Terry,
All models of the Penn Rampage jigging rod both spinning and conventional can handle 80lb braid. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Asked by James 3 years ago

I own all three line classes of the Rampage spinning rods. It looks to me like the only difference in them is that the rods get shorter as they get "heavier". Is that possibly true? Do all the blanks start off the same? I am in the process of buying s

Alex T 3 years ago

That is correct in most cases. A lot of these do in fact use the same blanks, shortening the rod would give it a stiffer feel and more power

Asked by Sulfan 4 years ago

Is the rampage jigging rod suitable for shore jigging

Sydney 4 years ago

The Penn Rampage Rod with work great for inshore jigging.

Asked by Ante 7 years ago

What is the best reel for this RAMJG80130S60, for vertical jigging ?

Donald 7 years ago

The Maxel Ocean Master level drag reel for a covential rod and a Shimano Saragosa 8000 or 10000 size for a spinning rod would be great for vertical jigging.

Asked by Steve 8 years ago

Can you help me put in perspective how much pulling power a jigging rod in the 80-130lb version actually has? I feel like the rating is seriously exaggerated with this rod.

Kaitryn 8 years ago

This rod has a load bearing capability of 80-130lbs. Load weights greater than 130lbs will likely cause damage to the rod.

Asked by Redha 9 years ago

Is the rampage jigging rod suitable for bottom fishing?

Customer Service 9 years ago

Not really. They are not designed for that application. Take a look at the Rampage boat rods. They are exactly what you need.

Asked by john 9 years ago

is this rod good for blackfin tuna

Customer Service 9 years ago

Yes. The 30-80 or the 50-100 would work very well for the Blackfin.

Asked by john 9 years ago
