Broke
Rod snapped after 3rd cast...huge disappointment.
Great Rod for the money
Excellent workmanship very smooth casting rod. Ordered one day and had the rod in the surf the next. Tackledirect is a great business.
Durable & Sensitive to the bite
I caught several large strippers, dogfish sharks and a nice black drum on this this spring. It could be said the rod was not heavy enough. But in the end, I got everything on the beach and the pole is as good as new.
Great rod well made
Paired this up with Penn battle 3 performed perfectly well balanced
Nice rod for the price
Feels good on the hand and is not heavy , haven't tested yet.
11ft 2-6 oz
this rod has some really big fish on it for me. paired to a battle 3 6000hs it is a great combo for short money.
this rod is very parabolic, holds onto the fish and wears them down without beating you up. my carnage 2 turns the fish a little easier maybe, but for a while i liked my prevail 2 more than my heavy surf 2 blockhole
Great rod
Works great! Paired it with a Penn Squall II CS.
Overall good budget rod
Purchased 3 rods and have been using for over a year. One of the rod shattered at the joint but the warranty took care of it.
Amazing
Great rod for beginner.
Casting Rod
Rod is very good in feel and weight. Could use just a bit more coushing on top of reel maybe 1/2-3/4 added. But overall is a great Rod
Does the Job
Good for throwing 3 oz bucktails into the surf if you're on a budget.
SUPER LIGHT
SUPER LIGHT AND GREAT QUALITY. WAS SKEPTICAL BC OF PRICE BUT TURN OUT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST BUYS IVE MADE. WILL ORDER MORE IN THE FUTURE. PENN PRODUCT ARE GREAT
Cant get anything better for the price!!
Great rod for the price. i dont think you can get anything else that offers the same durability, weight and hardware for this price.
Yes, it certainly is safe to use braid with stainless steel guides. Most fishing lines are compatible just take care of the rod by rinsing to prevent corrosion over time.
Hello Dan,
All Penn Prevail II surf rods are two piece.

Hi Steve, Depending on what your fishing for and how much weight you need to cast, I would recommend the Penn PRESFII1220C10 Prevail II Surf Casting Rod. Specifically Model: PRESFII1220C10; TackleDirect Code: PEN-1801. https://www.tackledi
You certainly can pair this with a 4000 size reel depending on what kind of fish you are targetting and the application you plan on using to target them. Typically a 5000 size reel is a good starting point for surf rods
The total rear grip of the Penn Prevail II Surf rod is 25.4 " or 646 mm
The Winn camo grips are built into the rod so this would not come with any additional grips or wraps.
No, the casting rods are designed for overhead style reels.
The Azores-90s would fit on the 10' and up models.
Yes this rod can.
I would recommend the 12' model if using that much weight plus bait, however, the Heavy action of this rod may compromise your casting distance slightly.
For the Penn Prevail II 8ft Medium rod:
The rear grip from the butt cap to the real seat is: 12"

<font face="Arial, sans-se
