Beast of a Rod!!!!!!

Larry L.

This rod is a beast. It is extremely strong with very, very, little flex. I bought this rod to "muscle" in and make short work of the GBFT we get in the NE/NJ coast, which for the most part are 100-200 lb fish as 200+ are pretty rare. Since this rod is so stiff, your fishing technique is somewhat different vs using say an 80lb rod which has more flex and is more forgiving. read more With the 130 lb rod, you need to be conscious to keep the line tight at all times and avoid slack lines as this rod doesn't flex much. This is not a "stand up" rod .... leave it in the rod holder and crank away just like in Wicked Tuna.

I have not used the rod as of yet but can't wait. The rod is great quality and extremely well built with great rollers, great bent butt and a great eglass/fiberglass blank.

This rod would pair well with a Penn Fathom 2speed in a 40 size for your desired trolling application, this set up together would certainly be able to handle that class of fish

Dear Tackledirect, I am from the UK - but I'm over in Florida 4 times a year with work. I always get in a fishing trip in on my mated Centre Consul sports boat. We fish offshore, and fish a mix of boat and trolling. I have just recently bought a Penn Squa

Unfortunately we do not know the exact model of the rod that was in the video. A good rod to pair with the Squall 30 VSW would be the ALLBW308060CRS.
