Blank is very good, but heavy weights

Benny

-i like only blank rod, it is slow rod which you do not need 1 slow rod more. But button of penn is heavyy. I want to cut button to keep blank rod only. And then make button light like shimano or other brand

Great all around rod

Unlike the 80-200lb this rod has a bit more sensitive tip so not only will you see when the big fish hit but also the more subtle smaller species

Happy with the purchase

Happy with this product. Good for jigging, trolling, live baiting. Especially from the kayak I’m mainly fishing off of. Even better off an actual boat. Tough. Strong. Solid back bone.

Can't break it

I've been in to shore based shark fishing for a long time while I lived near the keys. Now I fish from a boat in the gulf near North Florida. I got this rod with my Penn Slammer 105000 hanging on it. Fist thing I did when I brought it home was hook up my 100# powerpro to my truck and lean back on it. She held my weight with no problem. I trust it.

Great offshore jig rod for the price. The funky lookinf grip is actually very comfortable and the hardware, fit, and finish is very nice for the price.

I absolutely love mine. I've got it paired with a Slammer iii 8500 and 80 lb braid. It winches reef donkeys off the bottom with ease. I also work heavier slow jigs with this rod. It's sensitive enough with the braid to feel the slightest bite. And it works just fine if I want to bottom fish with live bait. Like I said, I love it!

Versatility, performance, strength

Excellent upgrade over previous Penn jigging rods. Components, balance, and “feel” are all top-notch. Have fished this rod with a Torque 25NLD2 and 15XNLD2 jigging big bottom fish and west coast yellowtail, and with 12 and 15 sized star drags with live bait for yellowfin and bluefin tuna to 50lbs without problem. Would love to see the same blank technology used On some longer read more rods (8ft, please).

Phenominal Rod

Hands down my favorite rod in my fleet, put the bend to it and she sits pretty. Heavy duty and great flex!

the day this rod arrived I paired with a Penn slammer 3 10500 with Sufix 832 80 lb braid. I went to Honey park in Thunderbolt Georgia. After about an hour I caught a Sting ray that had to weigh 30 pounds this pole had no problem with the weight. I will be buying another one

Excellent

The old Bluewater Carnage series were excellent rods but these new versions with aluminum Pacbay reel seats and bumpy foregrips are even better. I paired the heaviest (80-200) spin model with a Torque-9 with 100# spectra for large tuna.

Asked by Van 4 years ago

Penn Carnage II or Shimano Trevala? I'd love an opinion since both are the same price.

Brian 4 years ago

Van,

Both the Shimano Trevala and Penn Carnage II Jigging Rods are great rods at that price point. The Trevala has been around for a long time and has been one of the most popular jigging rods out on the water due to their impressive power

Asked by DUAN 7 years ago

Hi. Where is this rod made?

Donald 7 years ago

The Penn Carnage Jigging rods are made in China.

Asked by Adam 7 years ago

Witch one of these rods would be good for a slammer 4500? I was thinking the medium. The carnage boat rods also go lighter if that one is too heave thanks.

Donald 7 years ago

I would recommend the M above all the the other rods. The 5500 Slammer would be a better fit for the M rod.

Asked by John Lee 9 years ago

What reels are recommended by penn on the spinning rods to match them? Thank you.

Brandon 9 years ago

Hello John. This would heavily rely on a few things such as; your price point, the type of fishing you want to do, where you are fishing, and what you are fishing for. Feel free to contact us via one of the outlets below and we will get you all set up!
