Penn Ally Boat Rods are constructed with a one-piece tubular glass blank and a solid tip to help prevent breakage. For line management Penn has added Fuji stainless steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts. Standup models feature both Fuji guides and Pac Bay rollers. For added comfort Ally rods feat...ure PENN?s Triangular-shaped EVA Torque foregrip to reduce rod rotation while under pressure. Heavy duty graphite and machined aluminum reel seats keep a secure grip on the reel while an aluminum gimbal provides added strength and a secure connection during the fight.

Perfect for Sailfish and Blue Marlin.
I use this rod for trolling for Sailfish and Blue Marlin and a fantastic rod for the money. Overall built as good or better than rods that cost twice as much.

Beefy rod
Beefy rod, but feels good and is light.
I like
great rods... I have two of them and have caught some big fish on them... light weight and easy to use / setup... I have it setup with two Penn Two speed reels...
My third Ally purchase
I purchased this rod to pair with a Penn International 80W. The rod is a great match for the offshore setup I needed. This is my third Ally rod. I love the look and performance of the rods.

Penn Ally Review
I purchased two of the Penn Ally rods recently for a Long Range Tuna Trip out of San Diego CA. It was a good move having these rods ready for the Big Bluefin Tuna action. These rods worded perfect for landing these large Tuna in the 100-200 pound range, with plenty of action and enough stamina to get them boat side quickly while coupled to a quality reel. The grips and butt length…

are perfect for belt or rail fishing, comfortable for the long fight. The grip and rod combination support larger reel well, for this outing I fitted one of my 25 size reels when attached to these rods had good balance.
Good trolling rod
Great quality for a reasonable price, I bought 2 of these use them for Sailfish
For that white marlin bite
A good rod for the white marlin battle. Pairs nicely with the Penn FTH40NLDHS Lever Drag Reel
Great rod for the money
Just got it feels great, built solid and I can't wait to use it
Sensative
Used on a 50w and the tip is still sensative enough to feel anything on the other end of the line
Yes it would be a good trolling rod and the 30-80 pound rated rod would be good for mid-large size Tuna.

The tip is not a roller
Models listed with the "D" handle have the bent butt
<span>Hi Dustin, Based on your fishing application, I would recommend the Penn ALLBW3080C66 Ally Conventional Boat Rod. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-allbw3080c66-ally-boat-rod-conventional.html</a><span> This rod will be able to land sharks
<span>Hi Noah, Depending on your fishing application, I would recommend the 6ft 30-80lb class Penn Ally Boat rod. Specificially model: ALLBW3080C60RS; TackleDirect Code: PEN-1241. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-allbw3080c60rs-ally-boat-rod-co
For wireline I would go with the Tony Maja Rods.<p><br /></p><p>https://www.tackledirect.com/tony-maja-custom-mojo-rod.html<br /></p><p><br /></p>
I would recommend pairing it with a TackleDirect TDPS605080SIN Platinum Hook Conventional Standup Rod.<p><br /></p><p>https://www.tackledirect.com/tackledirect-tdps605080sin-platinum-hook-rod.html<br /></p><p><br /></p>
I would recommend a rod in the 30-80# class as the sweet spot with the reel you're using
The Daiwa BG 8000 would be a better fit for the 7' 30-50 line weight rod.
