Nice Blank, Poor Guides

Jay

I liked the convenience of the travel rod. Comes with a nice travel tube. But be sure to keep it in the tube. One of the guides got bent at some point and broke off. I'm pretty careful with my rods and this is the first time this has happened to me. I don't know if otherwise this rod feels like a $90 rod beside the convenience and travel tube. I tried going through Okuma to see read more if it was covered under warranty but didn't get a response, but that might be because I called last year during the COVID lockdowns.

Amazing Rod

Keith

Bought this rod for a trip I went on because I needed something that I could take on a plane. I've been using it for over a year now, mostly for striped bass, and it has been fantastic. Lightweight and sensitive but still capable of pulling in larger inshore fish.

What size reel would pair well with this rod?

Devon 6 years ago

I'd advise a 3000 size spinning reel for model number SST-S-663L, a 4000 size for SST-S-763MH, and a 5000 size for SST-S-863MH.
