I had this rod for a while now. I've caught everything from Rock Cod to Yellowtail. I paired it up with a Lexa 400 and had a solid combo for throwing swimbaits and could easily use it in a pinch for live bait. I landed a 25lb Yellowtail on this rod. It has a sensitive tip and has backbone. However my tip recently broke on this rod and I wasn't rough on this rod. Disappointed with read more the durability.

Handsome look!

I got one of these rods just out of curiosity since I heard so much about them. First day out on a yellowtail trip I landed a 37 pounder. This rod paired with a Lexa 400 win landed a 37 pounder yellow with no issues. The tip is very sensitive and can feel every little tug, I can even feel my live bait tapping. Plenty of backbone for lifting power very comfortable in my hand, light read more weight. I was able to whip out casts with ease. I totally recommend this rod for any inshore adventure you go on.

Is this rod 1 piece?

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

They are one piece rods.

Asked by Richard 5 years ago

Would the XH pair with a komodo ss 471 well?
Will use it for lemonfish

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

You may be better going for a more traditional conventional reel for the xh then a smaller low profile baitcaster. I would look at the seigler sg or the avet sxj raptor

Asked by Tyler Doherty 5 years ago

would the xh pair with a lexa 300 , and is it moderate fast or fast action

Bernie 5 years ago

It's moderate fast and the 300 would be a little small for the XH

Asked by Sean Simmons 2 years ago

Did the Okuma PCHi-C-SG replace this rod? Which do you think is the stronger rod. Is the Spiral Carbon Wrap on the SCTi stronger than the carbon wrap on the PCHi?

Thanks

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Sean, According to Okuma, the PCHI did replace the SCT Inshore rods. The PCHi are the more durable rod of the two models. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Could I use the scti 8f medium heavy matched with the komodo 273 for fresh water bass fishing from shore?

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

That would make a good pairing for bass

Asked by Bob 6 years ago

Which rod would you recommend for a Tranx 500 or a Lexa 400 (both high speed). I would use for 20# - 30# yellowtail.

Ricky 6 years ago

I would recommend using the Tranx this style of fishing.

The Okuma SCT Inshore Rod 8' H would match well with the Penn Fathom 15 for the application your using the combo for.
