Recommed by my brother

My bro travels a lot and planes prevent him from bringing some of his fav tackle without him paying extra fees. Who likes to do that? He visits our fam in Fla and while he down there he like to fish. He wants to bring his tackle and airlines like to charge $$. He watched youtube and found travel rods and took a chance. Now, he takes this rod everywhere. He raves about it. So read more I bought one. I was not disappointed. It may be 3 pieces, but is solid as a one piece rod. Get it if you need an efficient, strong, compact rod that can stowed away. It's a 7 foot rod that breaks down to 3 seperate 2.33 feet pieces.

Fantastic rod

It’s a fantastic rod for travel or normal use. I took it on every trip I went on and also use it just about every time I head out on the pier or kayak. It’s sensitive and handles fish very well. I love it!

Generally alright

The quality and finish are great. The overall design for The Nomad Xpresscould could use some major improvements. The rod is very stiff and brittle, and as a result all the load is contrasted within the tip section of the rod. These rods will work fine for small fish but if you need more than 10 pounds for drag, or force, will probably break the tip ferrule or tip, as has been my read more repeated experience. The model I've been using was Ntxi-S-703MH Nomad Xpress. My advice to Okuma would be to incorporate some fiber glass and work on better load distribution with in the rod.

What’s the lure rating for ML

Brian 4 years ago

Joe,

Unfortunately Okuma does not provide lure ratings on this series of Nomad Xpress Travel Rods. Best estimate would be around 3/8-1oz based off of similarly spec'd out Okuma inshore rods.

Will Okuma Ntx S 703MH spinning rod balance well with Shimano Saragosa 8000....or better with 6000 will use 50-65 lb braid..... Travel to Aruba...wide variety of potential fish there..........

Devon 6 years ago

Given the line you plan on using you'd want to use the Saragosa 8000. However, these rods are going to be too light for a 65 lb. braid application. I would suggest looking at the Nomad Travel Rod model number NT-S-703M-MH.

Asked by Hayden Gallagher 7 years ago

Hello, my question is pertaining to the action/power of the Nomad Xpress rods. I will be fishing SW Florida in late March for LM bass up to 30/40lb Tarpon. Would the ML or MH be better suited for the applications? Would the MH be overkill for bass/snook?

Donald 7 years ago

The ML Okuma Nomad Xpress Inshore Travel Rod would be best suited for the applications.

Yes it does.

Asked by TOM 9 years ago

Are Alp guides and reel seat used in the xpress rods? If not, what is used? Thanks

Brandon 9 years ago

Hello Tom. They unfortunately do not use Alps reel seats. The reel seats are standard Okuma reel seats. The guides however are Alps brand. Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!
