For big species
Heavy and strong construction. For the bid game,
Very Heavy
I ordered this rod for an upcoming Florida keys fishing trip. Most of the fishing would be casting small lures. This rod was thicker then my offshore tuna rods. I exchanged this rod for the Okuma Nomad Inshore ML rod and couldnt be happier. The components on both rods are top quality but the inshore model fit my needs better.
For heavy jiggs only
Unless u plan to drop heavy jiggs for tuna or other big fish this rod is not the typical all around travel boat rod. Quality and proce is great and unmatchable. However, I found it to me to heavy for my needs. Also u need a 8000+ series reel for this in case u dont have one.
Great travel rod!
This is the perfect travel rod! high quality components and a great carrying case.
The Most Versatile Fresh and Salt Water All-In-One Spinning Rod!
I used this rod in freshwater with the Medium tip, then went to salt water with the MH tip. It has great action and with both tips, and it feels like a one-piece rod. I want to order the travel Surf rod now that is 10 foot. I use to pay $50 to ship my rods from California to Florida (one way) with United State Postal Service, and would have to do this one week before arriving,…

then I would have to spend another $50 to ship them back. Now, I can just Carry them on the plane with me, and save the shipping costs. Even though the Okuma Travel Rods cost more initially, they will pay for themselves in the long run. And the Nomad Travel Rod has a lifetime warranty.
Thank you Tackle Direct for making it possible for me to afford an Okuma Travel Rod!
Rod is great- super high quality
Very sturdy excellent quality came with case too
Sweet Travel Rod
Well made great looking rod. The spigot ferrule will take some getting used to, the gap when seated does not feel right and looks awkward. Performance will be the real judge, I will trust the rod's designers to know their craft.
The rod has one hell of a backbone and should have no problem landing an AJ.
Nice rod
The rod are so nice and look like it very well made
Heavy
Top quality but to heavy for casting all day
Great Truck Rod
Great portable rod to keep in the truck, or car. I drive to and from work via the ocean and stop often cast for a bit. Great little rod for that, or just skip work :-)
Almost perfect travel rod
it is a very cool travel rod, was more than i expected from a travel rod that is 60lb rate for braid with MH tip,
Excellent travel rod
I took it to the Keys for Mahi-Mahi fishing. It was fantastic! I hooked into a couple of Tuna as well. I was glad I had a strong rod. Excellent value!!
Its a good rod
its really good i like and is well to use
Seriously heavy duty travel rod
Bought this for deep dropping from a head oat, while traveling with the family. It should handle 16 ounces of lead and meat while dragging for tilefish without a problem. It's not light, but the quality is really good. Since I can't take a one piece in the van with the kids, this is the best option.
Solid
Versatile, compact, good looking rod
The Daiwa Lexa WN Baitcasting Reel 300 size does fit on this rod but it is not ideal. Rather than a baitcaster I suggest pairing this rod with a conventional reel.
Absolutely! These rods are built to be fished with braided lines.
Jose, I recommend you take a look at the 3000 or 4000 Shimano Stradic Ci4.
Wil, I checked out a couple of reels in the Avet line. The smallest reel that will fit your rod is the LX and JX. The combo feels very good in your hand and is very balanced.
That specific rod you mentioned would be paired with a spinning reel.
The length of the rod case is 32 inches.
The Okuma Nomad Travel Rods 20-60 would pair well with the Penn Squall 40LD.
The Shimano Thunnus with 50 lb power would be a good fit for the Okuma Nomad.
The NT-C models are casting and the NT-S models are spinning.
An Avet JX would pair well with model number NT-C-663M-MH.
I just tested the 6000 size battle on the Nomad NT-S-703M-MH and the reel is too big. i would recommend using a size 4000 Battle on the Nomad rod.
The Fin Nor Lethal 20 would be the the best match for versatility and durability between the rod and the reel.
The 10000 would be a bit heavy for the NT-S-703M-MH. The 8000 would be the best size to pair the model rod your choosing.
You can really run into anything on the amazon river I would lean towards the m/mh model <a href="https://www.tackledirect.com/okuma-nt-s-703m-mh-nomad-travel-spinning-rod.html" style="background-color:rgb(236,237,239);color:rgb(35,82,124);font-family:Ari
This case is 32.5 inches long.

8500 SSVI would be on the heavy side for casting applications, but if that is not a concern that would be a good option for your listed applications. Should cover all of your bases rather well.
The rod is rated for both mono and braided lines. If you look in order chart, you'll see the line rating section. The first group of numbers is for mono, while the second is for braid. For example, the M/MH version is rated for 15-30 lb. test mono and 20-
<span>Hi Rogelio, Unfortunately the Okuma Nomad Travel Rods are Discontinued at this time and we will not be receiving anymore in anytime soon. Instead I would recommend a Okuma NTx-C-703MH Nomad Xpress Travel Casting Boat Rod. </span><a>https://www.tackl
The manufacture does not list a lure rating per their website here is the link:<a href="https://www.okumafishing.com/en/product/Nomad-Travel-Rod/Nomad-Travel-rod.html" target="_blank">https://www.okumafishing.com/en/product/Nomad-Travel-Rod/Nomad-Travel-r
18.4 oz's The rod is stout but can be used for inshore fishing
While the rods are very well built it would be a stretch to use this for 100+lb tuna or catfish.
They would fit and balance out well another option would be the 5500 spinfisher
