High end rod
There have been times I have been out on the water with my lighter surf outfits and would be wishing I took my heavier 10' outfit instead. The weather starts off one way but then ends up another which is why I needed to get something that was lightweight but could also handle the heavier lure weights when the conditions call for it. I haven't been able to try it out yet but I…

am hopeful it will perform as intended. I had done a lot of research prior to purchasing this rod and have heard many good things about it.
My initial impressions of the rod are all positive. You can tell this is a higher end rod.
Frontier NXFX-1166, 11ft 6in 2-6oz Great rod!
Very nice rod and I am very happy with it. Definitely the best rod I have ever owned. I liked it so much I bought another Frontier rod in a 9'6" length also. I am using the 11'6" rod with a Penn Slammer III 5500 reel with balances out well and the 9'6 rod with a Penn Slammer III 3500.
Best surf rod in my arsenal.
I have quite a few rods in my arsenal, and by far, this is my favorite. Handles gator blues very well, has a lot of back bone (compared to my other rods with the same rating).
Beach Master
Great casting and light weight and a sensitive rod blank make this a go to for throwing lures all day. Gonna get another.
Great Lure Rod
Great rod for lures on the beach to get that extra distance and sensitivity.
Rod to rule them all
Debated between this and the Legend. Hands down no regrets. This rod is light and great looking. Practiced casting in an open field and could see i hit the state border. Great feel to the rod and isnt a broom stick.
Stopping power
This rod is great. Can and will turn a big fish with ease. Not much contact with the lighter stuff..sp,mag darter, etc but that's to be expected.
Great rod!
I purchased the 106 rod to pair with a VR150 and VSX200. I noticed a significant improvement in casting distance, and it throws the whole weight range very well. Throws everything from light bucktails to 3oz poppers.
Best surf rod for top water!
I have a 13 Stella 14000XG and needed a rod to go with; I did a lot of homework and looked at plenty of surf rods. Tackle Direct were the ones that had it so I bought it. This rod is amazing! I've had Lamiglass, St. Croix Legends, and Century Sling Shots. The moderate-fast action feels unbelievably crisp and yet still gives you the slinging action to catapult the top water lures…

out. At 3-4 oz. is the sweet spot for this rod. You can cast a mile with it. Don't be afraid to whip the heavier lures out; it can withstand it. When hooked on a 25-35 in. stripers, depending on the current, the rod has plenty of back bone to fight these pigs. I would say that if you go any bigger on the lures and faster currents- the Jiggster will be ideal. But for what I do and to be casting for hours- this rod is 2nd to none!
Fantastic high end rod
first high end rod i've owned, lots of backbone, casts well out of its lure range, light, and comfortable. I cannot say anything bad about this rod
Brilliant rod
Got the 106 2-6 ounce for surf fishing the jersey shore. It can cast 6oz lead with ease and still cast lures down to 1-1/8 very well. Versatile, strong, sensitive, light as a feather. Perfect surf rod. ODM is on point.
Great Powerful Rod
Very nice lightweight rod. Haven't got chance to catch with it, spring coming soon. Test casting everything from 1/2 oz to 4 oz, and rod handles all with no problem. Cast distance is great and rod seems powerful. Can't wait until spring to catch on it.
FOR THE ALL DAY CASTER
Purchased 10'6" Frontier in the Spring and all I can say is that for the avid fisherman who casts for hours at a clip this is the Surf Rod for you. Built to stand on the beach, jetty or rock and cast all day with little effort. I've fished 3/4-4oz bucktails, pencils, poppers, minnows, darters, bottles & Whip-it fish each lure is an extension of my hand. I'm completely amazed… read more by the technology and realize now this rod was built by fisherman for fisherman at mind. Moderate/fast action with hook ups extending right to the reel. ODM Frontier is in a league of its own. Hats off to the boys of ODM and look forward to seeing your crew on the Beach. Tight Lines.
<span>Hi Todd, Depending on your fishing applications I would recommend either Model: NXFX-1064; TackleDirect Code: ODM-0008. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/odm-rods-nxfx-1064-frontier-x-surf-rod-10-ft-6-in.html</a><span> or Model: NXFX-1068; Tack
We have a 30 day return policy if you are not satisfied with the rod. After the 30 day mark you would have to go through ODM's manufacturer warranty. Every new factory ODM Rod is covered by their level 1 or level 2 One Year limited warranty.
They will pair well together.
thats a perfect jigging rod for the cape
These ODM Frontier X models are a 70/30 split
The ratings on these rods match well to what they are advertised to throw. It really depends on what type of fishing you plan on using it for. If you're bait fishing, then I would go with the 2-6oz. model, but for throwing plugs, I would use the 3/4-4 oun
Yes, the 200 would pair perfectly with that rod.
The length from the butt to reel seat is about 22.5" - 23" and the rod has 7 guides + the tip.
The butt is about 20.5 inches on the 11'6" rod.
Either one of those reels would pair very well with this ODM rod, and make for a great surfcasting combo
