This rod is a work of art!

Roger R.

This rod is a work of art! It has a great feel and balances well with my Penn SSVI 4500. I appreciate TackleDirect it was very fast I received the rod on time from the day of purchase, their customer service was excellent as I had a few issues which were eventually corrected and they showed their confidence, which is a game changer. I will be doing much more business with TackleDirect read more altogether in the future. They also know how to ship the fishing rods...they pack them in very secure containers...

Very sensitive and casts great

Since buying the rod (9'), I have nothing but good experiences with the rod. Light, sensitive and can cast anything over 1 oz a good distance. Light enough for porgy and fluke, yet strong enough to handle them blues and heavy plugs out in the surf.

Quality Rod, Good Pricing

After weeks of research I finally landed on the ODM NXD-104 D.N.A. Surf Rod 10’. After hearing many reviews it was one of the best rods for the pricing. Still carries most of the great qualities of the more expensive rods but at a better price for this older generation model. I liked the quality, build, and sensitivity. Tackle Direct had a good turn around on processing and shipped read more quickly.

This rod is a beast!

The rod I have is a 10’6” and use it for striper fishing. This thing slings it effortlessly. You won’t regret buying this rod.

This rod has performed very well. The rod loads well at bot ends of the recommended weight range, it's light and strong . I paired it with VS VR175 . So far it's handled Striped bass up to 20lbs with no problem.

Casts like a broomstick

Rob

The rod is just so stiff. I’ve had 80 dollar basspro surf rods that load up better than this rod. It’s ok for like magic swimmers and danny plugs where you don’t need distance but for distance casting this isn’t the rod

Amazing Rod

By far my favorite rod in my arsenal. It's extremely light and well built. Worth every penny. You can carry and throw all day with this rod

Asked by BG 3 years ago

How would the Stradic FL 4,000 with 20 lb braid pair with the 8 ft for SP minnows and smaller plugs?

Alex T 3 years ago

Typically i would recommend at least a 5000 for surf casting purposes, but the Stradic 4000 and 5000 are identical reels, just with the 5000 adding a little more line capacity.
Pairing a Stradic 4000 or 5000 with this rod would do just fine with either

Asked by Gary 2 years ago

What VR van staal you recommend for odm dna 8’ ?

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Gary,
Either the VR50 or the new VR75 will pair nicely with the ODM D.N.A. 8ft surf rod. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Asked by Neil 3 years ago

What is the distance between centre of reel seat and end off butt cap on the 8 ft ?
Also what is the length of the longest section of rod ?

Thank you

Paul Olah 3 years ago

This rod is a 60/40 split which means the longest section will be about 4'9". The distance from center of reel seat to butt cap is about 20"-21"

Asked by Tom Nguyen 3 years ago

Would the shimano saragosa 14000 pair well with the nxd-118???
And can you tell me how much it weight on that rod...?? Thanks you....

TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

I would recommend pairing with the Saragosa 10000 size but the 14000 would also do well if you were looking strictly for a canal set up.
Unfortunately we are not able to locate any reliable sources as far as the specs go on the weight of these rods.

Asked by Justin 3 years ago

What is the distance from the butt cap to the center of the reel seat on the 10’ model?

Paul Olah 3 years ago

As per the manufacturer the distance is approximately 23 inches.

Asked by Jj 3 years ago

Would a van staal vr50 pair well with the 9ft model?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

The VR50 would be a bit small on that rod. I would go with the 125-150 size for the 9 footer.

Asked by Bobby 3 years ago

Looking to get a 10’ or 10’6”. Which would pair better with a Van Staal VR150? Thanks

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

I would go with the 10' model in this case.

Asked by Steve 3 years ago

I just ordered the 9'. Would a Shimano Stradic FL 5000 match up with the 9'? It seems to have just the right amount of capacity for 20lb braid that I need. I am surfcasting 3/4-2 oz lures for many hours at a time and want something very smooth with good

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

That reel would match up nicely with that rod and should balance well.

Asked by Paul 3 years ago

What is the weight of NXD-115 rod?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

Unfortunately, ODM does not list the actual weight of this rod.

Asked by Steve 3 years ago

I am surf fishing with mostly 1.5-2 oz jigs and bucktails. I do some SP Minnows (1oz) and some poppers up to about 3 oz. Prefer 30lb braid. Which would be better the 9' or the 10'? Can you also recommend a reel pairing (Daiwa or Penn)?

TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

I would recommend the 9' rod if primarily fishing bucktails on the lighter side, But since you are throwing heavier jigs and occasionally poppers i would think the 10' model would be best for your application,
I would pair that rod with either a Penn Sl

Asked by Bob 3 years ago

Is the ODM DNA 8’ rod to long to use as a boat rod?
Would a Saragossa 6000 with 30 lbs. braid pair well with this rod?

Thanks & Happy Thanksgiving

Alex T 3 years ago

As long as you have room on the boat to use an 8' rod i dont see why not, I use the 7'6 1 pc model pretty regularly on the boat.
This rod would pair very well with a Saragosa 6000, this combo should be able to handle almost any inshore/nearshore species

Asked by Noah 3 years ago

I’m thinking of getting the 10’6 model and pairing it with a Van Staal Vr150 for cobia and kings off the pier. Do you think this will be a good pairing?

Alex T 3 years ago

I would definitely say this would be a great pairing. Very great rod paired with an unmatched reel.
If you are strictly using for pier fishing you could get away with using either the 10' 10'6 models

Asked by Jaxon 3 years ago

What rod would you recommend for the Van Staal VR 50 with 20LB braid. Using it for snook and smaller tarpon. mainly on land.

Alex T 3 years ago

I would recommend the 9' ML, this rod is rated 1/2oz-3.5 so thatll give you plenty of range depending on what you are throwing. with 20# braid on a VR50 you will be able to make monster casts, and both the rod and reel are tough enough to withstand trophy

Hunter,
Unfortunately, the Abu Garcia Blue Yonder Baitcasting reel does not pair with any of the ODM DNA surf rods as they are all spinning rods. A rod that would pair with the Blue Yonder reel would be the St.Croix Mojo Surf MSC100MMF2 (SCR-1030). Th

Asked by Dan 3 years ago

Which Penn Spinfisher VI reel (4500 or 5500) would balance out best with the ODM DNA 9' rod?

Alex T 3 years ago

Either reel would balance fine with this rod. the 4500 is a whole 6oz lighter therefore making it more comfortable casting for long periods, but has 5# less max drag.
If you are fishing heavy structure or rocks I would go with the 5500 just for the adde

Brian 4 years ago

You can go with either size reel on this rod, they are very similar in weight and how they would balance out on the 8' ODM DNA Surf Rod. Since you are going with 15lb braid, we would recommend sticking with the 3500. Slightly lighter than the 4500, holds
