60-80lb Model for BFT

Nathan

Used 60-80lb model for local bluefin trip in San Diego, CA.
Casted a Shimano Pencil and caught a 80lb Bluefin that I was fighting for 30mins.
I think the blank itself is very stiff.

Good rod, did not fit my reel though

Chris

this rod is great for the price. the blank flexes enough to relive pressure off of you. unfortunately my penn spinfisher 9500 did not fit in the reel seat

OTI TS2 8' 60-80

I purchased this rod to use for throwing stick baits at Yellowfin Tuna off of the local head boats. There isn't much information about this rod online so I did a little testing and was able to lift a 20 lb. plate with ease and have no doubt it will lift more than that considering how beefy this rod is. The rod is stiffer than I normally like but it does cast lure far, you just have read more to put a lot of strength into your casts.

Great Value

Has a good back bone. I wished the tip
was a bit softer. Have not used it in the field yet, but feels and looks promising.

Paired it with a 14k saragosa. Great tuna popping rod

Quality Popping rod at a great price

This review is only a first impression of the OTI-TS286080 TS2. This rod feels a little stiff at first but it is rated for heavier poppers. Premium guides and reel seat and the blank just looks and feels bulletproof. The butt connection is solid. The rod is light for what it’s rated for so can be fished all day. Hope this helps

My brother had one setup with an Avet that I used on a Texas Gulf tuna trip. Caught over a dozen black fin. Liked the rod so I bought one for myself.

Amazing rods held up to the fish I catch

Very Heavy Duty Rod

Casts big poppers and stock baits with ease. This rod has a lot of backbone and lifting power, and is well suited for larger fish.

Strong Back Bone!

Used this rod for my last 2 trips in CA for BFT and YFT.
Very strong back bone and tip is soft enough to feel the biting

Awesome Rod !!

Ive only had one trip with this Rod and only used a couple days on the boat, but I fought a 50+ Kg GT (that we got a very good look at 20 m from the boat when he hit) on which I could not Stop with 50 lbs of drag and the rod held up perfectly during the 90 seconds I had it on. I did land several smaller ones up to 10 Kg and horsed them in in under a minute no problem with the OTI read more TS2. on another day I was using my Hamachi 7'6" and landed a 20 Kg GT and the reel seat is now loose :(

Nice Light Rod

So , I ordered the 7'10", Is the saragosa 6000sw a good match, 40 lb braid?

B. Smith 4 years ago

Hello Scott,

Yes, your 6k Saragosa will pari perfectly with this rod. Tight lines!

Asked by Jadon Mancini 3 years ago

which rod pairs best with a Saragossa 8000

Alex T 3 years ago

This is a matter of preference and the size of fish you generally encounter. I would recommend the 8' 40-60 line weight rod.

Asked by Ernesto velazquez 3 years ago

Hi i have the saltiga 8000h and the oti ts2 7’10†1-4oz what braid you guys recomend using on it? Thanx

Rick - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

Ernesto,
The recommendation would be Power Pro Maxcuatro 40lb. It's strong, thin, and you should be able to get over 400yds of line on your Daiwa Saltiga 8000H. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Asked by Chris 2 years ago
