Ordered this rod a while ago, I was finally able to get out and use it this weekend and wow was I impressed. Fantastic rod, I used it in 225 feet paired with an Accurate Valiant 500N and it is an extremely light, great feeling combination. Are you sure that those are k series Alconite guides they look like the higher quality k series gunmetal silicon carbide guides like on the TS2 popping rods. if they are Alconite are they black or polished frames

You can definitely use this rod for your application. The rod is more suited for jigging so if you plan on casting more I would suggest a rod closer to 7 ft

<span>Hi Sam, The Ocean Tackle International FB56500A Fathom Blade 500g Acid would be a little light for Tilefish since you can use up to 3lbs of lead. I would recommend either a Shimano TZCR72XH Terez Rail Rod if you are fishing off a party boat or head
