Added a conventional reel and 80# hollow core. Bought it for black fin vertical jigging, but already taken it snapper fishing.

Ordered this rod a while ago, I was finally able to get out and use it this weekend and wow was I impressed. Fantastic rod, I used it in 225 feet paired with an Accurate Valiant 500N and it is an extremely light, great feeling combination. The rod has plenty of backbone for the Red Snapper and Grouper I caught with it. I highly recommend this rod. Easy to fish with all day and Great read more components on it at a great price.

Nice light rod

Would the 6 foot acid wrapped fit a seigler sg for tuna under 70lbs most around 30-50 and some small sharks?

Huy - TackleDirect Customer Service 1 year ago

Hi Will, The Ocean Tackle International Fathom Blade rod in the 6' acid wrap will work for your application but we recommend going with the 5'10 300g rod to have the more versatile rod. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you

Could you use these for slow pitch?

Huy - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Russ, You can use these rods for slow pitch jigging in the lighter weight ratings but the rods themselves are not designed to have the appropriate action for proper slow pitch jigging. We recommend The Ocean Tackle Pitch Black Slow Pitch Rods ( <

Would the 5'8 400 gram acid work well for Tile Fish in the North East?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Sam, The Ocean Tackle International FB56500A Fathom Blade 500g Acid would be a little light for Tilefish since you can use up to 3lbs of lead. I would recommend either a Shimano TZCR72XH Terez Rail Rod if you are fishing off a party boat or head

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Gary, The 500G Fathom Blade Jigging rod is a different blank than the 400G Fathom Blade Jigging rod. The 500g is a little thicker, heavier and stiffer than the 400g. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

Jim,
The OTI Fathom Blade 400g Acid wrapped jigging rod would definitely work well for chucking off the east coast. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

I would go with a rod over 6' if you're going to be casting as well

You can definitely use this rod for your application. The rod is more suited for jigging so if you plan on casting more I would suggest a rod closer to 7 ft

300g or 400g for tuna from 50-150lbs, both options would be the spin version. Thanks in advance.

I would go with the 5'8" 400g. model.

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

I would go with the 5'8" 400g. model. This rod will offer you greater strength in case a larger class fish comes along.

Looking to pair up a rod for with my Avet HXW Raptor for trolling, jigging, and chunking off of NJ. Would this rod fit ?

Alex T 3 years ago

This rod would certainly fit your jigging and chunking needs paired with the Avet HXW, but im not sure it would be the best trolling option, Im sure if you got the 300-400g model it would do the job but may not make for the best trolling rod. The HXW woul
