Purchased this rod after talking to tackle direct customer service and their recommendation. Used it for tuna fishing in Texas gulf and rod handled yellowfins great. Bought two rods Ghost hunter 150 and ocean tackle OTI-TS284060 based on recommendation from Tackle direct customer service and both handled perfectly casting flying frenzys and halco 130's. With these rods casting read more is actually very fun and doable for couple hrs without getting tired.

Why spend twice the price when this thing is an absolute tuna slayer. Can handle fish over 200lbs, lots of lifting power with a sensitive tip to whip lures a mile.

Which model do you recommend for tile fish in 800-1200 feet of water on a party boat?  Ideally it would handle 2-5 pounds of lead for deep dropping.  Thanks

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

These rods were designed for throwing popping plugs and stickbaits for tuna. This would not be an ideal deep-dropping setup. A solid choice for deep-dropping would be a Phenix PHD760X2H Black Diamond Hybrid Offshore Conventional Rod paired with a Shimano
