Holy crap

This rod is all around best in class for light tackle inshore. It casts like a monster and loads nicely from 3/8 to 3/4 but still casts 1/4 like a beast and 1oz equally well. It's super sensitive and has great backbone. I've been taking it out for big blues, schoolie bass, and summer weak fish and fluke. Totally worth every penny.

Nice rod but a little expensive and not perfect

After careful consideration I finally decided to pull the trigger and spurlge on this rod. It is very light and casts great. Comparing it to $100 Tsunami rod it is better, however, in my opinion it is not 2.5 times better which is how much more it costs.

Bought this rod for porgy fishing. It is well made as all of my Loomis rods. Like the light weight of the rod and the full grip handle. Works like a charm.

Is the Pro Green a good choice for a fluke rod that I can take to Montauk and out of Captree on charter boats? If so, which power would you recommend? If not, I would like to stick with G Loomis or shimano if you could recommend options.

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi John, I would recommend the G Loomis IMX-PRO 844S F IMX-Pro Blue Spinning Rod. This is a stiff Medium Heavy Fast Action rod that woud be perfect for fishing for fluke out of Montauk. https://www.tackledirect.com/g-loomis-imx-pro-844s-f

Are the guides titanium? Or stainless Steal?

Hello, looking to purchase the PGR883S rod. Would the new penn spinfisher 2500 reel be too light for this rod for flats fishing.
Thanks

CHARLES 4 years ago

With the lure rating on the rod a 2500 should be perfect. A 3000 should just be a bump up in spool size and anything larger would add significant weight to the whole set up. You should have a blast with that combo!
