Bought the 843 med heavy fast action 7’ I don’t like long fishing rods … pared with Stella 4K sw edition got in Australia cause didn’t sell usa @ time I basically own 15/20 loomis but huge cape fear fan own easily 50+ and always thought loomis decent rods just bit fragile and delicate … but HOLY CRAP this nrx blew my mind seriously!! It’s ridiculous the backbone in it !!! read more Feels like could rip 30 lb grounder OUT ITS HOLE haha its absolutely incredible.. I did have too eye break thou but probably mostly my fault (not while fishing just traveling in launcher maybe line too tight) I use mine for offshore only … I know inshore rod but it’s truly epic for dolphin , tuna and bottom fishing small jigs … absolutely stupid $$ but soon own and fish one it becomes immediately Sparta why unlike many overpriced things lol … plus cannot beat titanium eyes ..

Wow!!! Out performed my expectations.

I paired the NRX 921S MR with a Stella 5000. I was not too sure how much backbone the rod would have since the tip was softer than what I have been accustomed to. We were catching some nice reds near Clearwater. After releasing a 35 in red a bull shark bit it in two! Following that, twice I hooked into what I believe were sharks due to the head shaking I could feel and my line read more ended up cut. One of them stripped out half of my line before I managed to turn it. After about 10 minutes of fighting it, we never saw it, the braid was cut. The rod was super lightweight, sensitive and loaded up beautifully with the bigger fish. Yes, they are expensive but after how it performed I would definitely purchase one again.

Fantastic rod

This is my new favorite all around rod. It's light weight but able to handle big fish.

Probably the best inshore fishing rod money can buy

Amazing rod with insane sensitivity for shy nibblers & strong backbone to reel in the big fish. Handmade in Washington State, can't recommend this highly enough!

Great rod

Have mine paired with a Daiwa exist for inshore fishing. Amazing set up. This rod is so sensitive I can feel a baby shark fart in Australia while fishing the docks in Socal. . Will be buying aa second one.

Now have 6 NRX spinning rods (both inshore and bass). These rods are light well balanced and strong no matter where I fish. Most recently fished in a variety of inshore fishing conditions around Captiva, Florida where I caught Reds, Snook, Trout, etc. Still would like to hook a tarpon. These are my go too rod in most conditions.

Very good spinning rod

this is the lightest, strongest spinning rod i have ever used. I received it as a gift and I have used it from the beach and it has handled 5kg blue fish with no problems.
I would recommend this rod over just about everything else.

Excellent rod

We all know G Loomis costs a lot. My mentality is to buy once, replace never. This is why I buy the best of the best whenever I can...

Hello, how different is the bend on the 842S model to the 843S ? Is the bend on the 843S a bit stiffer ? Also where would you say the sweet spot (max lure weight) would be for both rods ? Thanks

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

The bend on the medium is a bit more parabolic 1/2 oz for the mh and 5/8ths for the medium

Which nrx inshore would pair good with a van staal vr50

Bernie - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hello Christopher,
The vr50 being only 8.9oz's it would pair up well with any nrx inshore. Ideally I would pair the vr50 with the 7'4 medium heavy

I currently own 2 G- loomis NRX rods. The 852s and the 822s drop shot. Im looking to purchase a further casting rod for northern pike and large/ small mouth bass and striper. Im considering the NRX 921s MR or the NRX 922s MR. Which rod do you feel would

Alex T 4 years ago

I would recommend the 922 or 923 honestly, if you are worried about it being too stiff go with the 922, but in most cases when targeting these fish you want that extra backbone which is why i would recommend the MH 923MR

Asked by FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ 4 years ago

Is the 7' 4" MH a good rod for tarpon fishing?

Brian 4 years ago

For juvenile tarpon it would be a great option.

Asked by Bobby Kacher 6 years ago

Fishing the flats and backwaters typically for Snook and Redfish - 15 lbs test braid. Which Loomis rod is best? Thanks Bobby

Donald 6 years ago

The G-Loomis NRX 842S MR NRX Inshore Spinning Rod would be a good rod to use for snook and redfish. This rod is capable to cast great distances and handle big fish.

Asked by Steve 10 years ago

What would be a good reel to match with the NRX 843 S?

Customer Service 10 years ago

We suggest going with the Shimano Sustain 3000 (SHM-1951). Extremely light, great drag, and casts beautifully.
