844S MF

Fishing east coast jetties and piers with this and it is great for smaller blues, fluke and strippers. Fits in a Car. Paired with a 5000 Shimano reel and it’s a great combo. I’d say it’s sweet spot is 3/4 to 1.5 ounces. Anything over 2 ounces and I would jump up a size.

Great purchase!

really nice rod made by g. loomis. i use it to throw 2-4oz plugs and lure which it handles with ease. The MF action helps get some of the heavier plugs moving while still reacting well to hookset. Pairs perfectly with a smaller size twin power SW for the inshore application i use it for.

Great rod. Strong, light, sensitive and fast tip.
Cast or troll it does the job. Like all Loomis rods a bit pricey but quality and performance are never cheap.

Great rod. not worth the hassle

Always been a fan of higher end, hand made, production rods. G-Loomis fits that description well. Having said that, DO NOT expect speedy warrantee for manufacture defects. It's great to have a sports car, if you get to enjoy it. If it's always in the shop, that's a bummer.

Warrantee defect on a rod after 2 months, and it's been with G-Loomis since Sept. with no read more anticipated replacement date.

Don't buy a G-Loomis, unless you want to frame it on your wall.

What would be a better reel pairing with the 842 model, the stradic 3000 or the vanford 3000?

William Larkin 3 years ago

Both of these reels would pair well. The Vanford has 1+7 bearings and 20lbs of drag, while the Stradic has 1+6 bearings and 19.8 lbs of drag. Their spool capacity is identical and the difference in total weight is only 1.5 oz, the lighter reel being the V

How do these rods compare to the terez series?

Rebecca Redington 5 years ago

Some IMX and Terez models are similar, the Terez rods are better for heavier applications. Depending on what you are fishing for, where and how will help better determine which rod will be best for your application.

Brian 4 years ago

The Twin Power 4000 SW should match up really well with that rod. The Twin Power 4000 XD would be a little too light to balance out well, but you are on the right track. Let us know if we can help you out with anything else, that combo would be great for

I am interested in pairing one of these imx pro blues to my Dawia Saltiga 30a. Looking to put together striper setup for three-waying live eels in some current with 6 oz of lead. Which model would you recommend?

Best option to pair up with the Saltiga 30 for eels in heavy current would be the IMX PRO 845C M.

https://www.tackledirect.com/g-loomis-

I would go with the size 20 Torium in this case.

Would the 905C be a good pairing with an Avet JX Raptor spooled with 60lb be a good light weight outfit for bottom fishing red snapper and grouper?

Paul Olah 3 years ago

This setup will be good to handle both grouper and snapper but I would actually recommend going down to 845C the shorter rod will be better.
