Fished this rod with a guide. Loved it so much bought one from tackle direct. Most nymph with a 3 wt but he convinced me with his 4 wt as it has a bit more backbone to add a few more split shot to get down deep. Fish it with a heavier reel set up for balance and use 25# mono prior to your sighter and tippet. You will feel every bottom bite and strike. Good luck.

I have the 71164 that I use to swing flies in the Great Lakes. This rod is light but powerful and can easily cast Scandi and Skagit heads. You can really feel the rod load on the casts and is a blast to fight powerful steelhead with. If you're looking to get into the two handed game, this is a great rod to start with, and at a great price!!

I had a chance to cast this rod at the Edison Fly Show.
Was great any distance. Felt light in hand. Bought one from Tackle Direct and received it in mail in 2 days. Beautiful looking rod.
