Very happy with these Diawa rods. Only comment I will share is that the roller in the swivel roller tip does not roll as it should even with a fair amount of pressure. I loosened the screw on each side of the roller just a smidge, and I mean just a smidge. But that was enough to allow the roller to spin with minimal pressure. Someone is over tightening this roller during assembly.… read more Maybe Alps, maybe Diawa. But Diawa should have caught this.

Perfect rod paired with the Tanacom 1000

I put the Tanacom 1000 on this rod for deep dropping primarly Golden Tilefish. This rod is perfect for it. The tip is light enough to see the bite of a single black belly rose fish but strong enough to hold two 20lb golden tilefish at a time.

How do you plane on using this setup? The reel is for trolling and the rod is for deep dropping. Are you trolling or deep dropping? Also where and what are you fishing for?

The rods are meant for deep drop fishing but it can work, the one with the rollers will work best when trolling for wahoo. The Tiagra 50w LRS will pair with that rod.
