Very durable rod at a great price

All components appear to be very beefy. The segment joints are reinforced, the guides are very solid, and you can really get some leverage on the handle.

Amazing rod

Daiwa travel rods are just REALLY good!
This one will handle a big variety of fish like: small GT, small Red Snappers, Mahi Mahi, Jacks, King Mackerels, Bonitos, Barracudas etc.
I paired it with a BG Daiwa 4500 and it was perfect!

Solid travel rod

This may be one of my favorite rods. ItÂ’s got a sensitive tip and solid backbone. The handle is on the thicker side but got used to it. Wish they would have used a nicer looking reel seat to compliment this sweat looking rod. All in all it gets the job done.

The well-known quality of Daiwa

Excellent components and materials at a very good price. This 3-piece fishing rod acts like a fishing rod in one piece with all the properties characteristic of quality rod: sensitivity, strength and light weight. I think is a good investment for my long trips over oceans.

Daiwa Saltiga G Boat Travel Rods Questions and Answers

Ask a Question

Asked by Popeye the fisherman 5 years ago

Can this rod be used to cast off of jettys and rocks for kingfish and jack crevales

Bernie 5 years ago

The medium heavy would be a good choice for the type of fishing you want to do.

Asked by James 5 years ago

Considering pairing this rod with a VR150 when I'm not surfcasting. Thoughts?

Bernie 5 years ago

The vr150 will pair well any of the Daiwa Saltiga G Boat Travel Rods

Asked by Jonathan 5 years ago

I have the MH Spinning Rod model of this rod. Which Penn Slammer III model and which Daiwa Saltist would pair best with this rod? I plan on using 40 or 50lb braid and using this rod offshore to throw large poppers and pitch baits in the tropics.

Bernie 5 years ago

The penn slammer III 5500 would pair up well with that rod and how you want to use it

Asked by Dan 5 years ago

Hy. This travel rod is good for using big lure popping to GT?

Bernie 5 years ago

You would need something heavier then a mh for throwing poppers to GT's its a 7'6 2 piece rod that will fit into most travel cases here is the link <a href="https://www.tackledirect.com/ocean-tackle-international-oti-ts27680120-ts2-popping-rod.html" targe

Asked by Dan 2 years ago

Will the 7 MH Saltiga G Travel Spinning Rod handle tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys?<p><span>Im targeting the 30-100 lb fish. I was thinking the 7 MH paired with a 4500 or 5000 spinning reel loaded with 50-65lb braid with the necessary leader.</span></p

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

<span>Hi Dan, Unfortunately the Daiwa Saltiga G Boat Travel Rods have been discontinued and we will not be getting anymore in anytime soon. I would recommend a Tsunami TSCSHDPSII762H-B Carbon Shield II Boat Popping Rod. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.

Asked by Little boii 3 years ago

Can I use this with a Saltiga 5500H Expedition?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

Yes, I would go with the MH model.

Asked by John 5 years ago

Does Shimano SE8000FI Sedona Fi Spinning Reel fit well with Daiwa Saltiga G Boat Travel Rods? I mostly fish near the shore for black sea bass and flukes.

Rebecca 5 years ago

Yes, that reel would pair great with the Saltiga G Travel Rods. SEC5000XGFI would be better than the 8000.

Asked by Chris 6 years ago

Would this rod (either M or MH) be suited for live bait (anchovy) fishing for albacore/schoolie yellowfin? The action is listed as 'R' and I'm not sure what that is.

Donald 6 years ago

The MH would be a better rod for the application your using it for. The R means regular which is Moderate action.

Asked by Chuck 6 years ago

Would an avet JX raptor with 50 lb power pro work with SAG 703mhr-tr 15-30?

Donald 6 years ago

The MX Raptor would be a better match for the SAG 703mhr-tr 15-30 using 50 lb braid.

Asked by Mark 7 years ago

Would the MH be heavy enough for grouper fishing

Donald 7 years ago

The MH would be enough rod for light grouper fishing. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.

Asked by Dorian 7 years ago

Hello, Daiwa Saltiga G Boat travel MH 15/30 spinning would match better a Saragosa 8000 or a 10000? As a Gosa 8000 weighs 689g and a 10000 703g what is the real weight of the rod? The recommended line is 15/30 lb, if I'll load the reel with a 50 lb braide

Donald 7 years ago

The rod would match better with the 8000 for better balance. The 50 lb braid will not be an issue using with this rod and reel combo. The rod weighs 14.4 oz.

Asked by Wil 8 years ago

Will there rods work with braid (Power Pro or other) at the suggested test and above?

David 8 years ago

Yes, they will.

Asked by mario 10 years ago

pls inform me: what is the weight lure for the 15/30 and the 12/25 Dawa travel g boat spinning.

Customer Service 10 years ago

The 12-25# rod would be rated for 3/4oz-1-1/2oz and the 15-30lb rod would be rated for 1oz-2-1/2oz lure weight.
