Very Versatile Rod...
Had this rod for over a year now without any issue. I've fished it inshore for Black Sea Bass and Ling and it handled both easily. Even a bonus 10lb Gator Blue couldn't defeat this rod with 30/30 test/leader combo. Will be putting my AVET JX G2 on it this year for a 2 day Tilefish trip where I plan to use it at night for Tuna. Will be using a 60/50 PR knotted combo. Loved the Win… read more Grip so much that I've put it on all of my rods.
Hopefully great Rod!
I have not used but looks well built
Hopefully a great Rod!
I have not used yet but looks well built
Awesome, versatile rod
Wanted a rod that I could use for heavy inshore, offshore jigging/bottom, and trolling... this bad boy checks all the boxes! Sensitive yet strong, feels great fighting fish, and looks great as well.
Saltwater fishing
These rods are awesome, works great with my power assist reels.
After a couple days of heavy use.
Very nice rod. Daiwa's line ratings are a bit confusing but I find this 76xhf to be ideal in the 50-60lb range. Needs at least 20 lb drag to bend the rod for you. Would not recommend this with 80lb line or trying to fish 35lbs of drag was not heavy enough to turn the head of 150lb tuna. Easy to pull hooks on 30lb fly lined fish.
Great looking and well made rod
Can't wait to use it, I've been testing it out and it appears to be of excellent quality. I want to get another one
Amazing rod
Top notch components beautiful handle .
PRTWN76HFS
I paired this spinning rod (PRTWN76HFS) with a Penn TRQS7 and it performed flawlessly. I liked the rod so much I bought another one (PRTWN76HF) for use with a conventional setup. This is a quality rod that is light weight, very strong, and well priced.
Outstanding rod
I've been deep sea fishing for 40 plus years and never had a more lite weight or heavy duty rod than this rod, extremely lit weight and all the back bone you'll ever need even in deep drop love it so much I have three two conventional and one spinner by far the best rods I ever owned
Nice rod
Like the rod goes good with my blue Avet reel
EXCELLENT ROD
This rod is incredible, I waited for this rod to be back in stock and finally got it. It did not disappoint, appealing to the eye, and just a great a rod to cast. That winn grip and the color is just awesome. Paired with a saltist.
Great rod
Love this rod it is my new favorite spinning rod, just ordered a conventional one cuz I liked the spinning rod version. Has a nice back bone and I love the Winn grips they are amazing
I would recommend the Heavy model, just because you will most likely be consistently using very heavy sinkers to hold bottom.
If you would prefer a softer feel then the MH rated rod should hold up to this fishery, especially if you can get away with usi
The 7' Medium Heavy or the 8' Medium Heavy will be a good match.
yeah you while be good with that rod.
Yes this reel will pair well with the Daiwa Proteus WN Rods.
Yes, these rods would be great for bottom fishing.
Yes, the 8' Heavy would pair up well with a 6500 Saltist Spinning Reel.
Daiwa Proteus-WN Saltwater Spinning Rod 7'6" Heavy would be a great choice. It provides all the backbone needed to hold onto one of those tuna. It provides not just pop
The Calcutta 400A will make a great pair for the Daiwa Proteus WN 7'6" MHF
You will be able to throw poppers extremely effectively with a Daiwa Proteus Salt Rod.
Unfortunately we aren't able to find these specs from Daiwa, this generally is a bottom fishing rod and given the specs provided this rod is a beast. It should be able to handle those heavy weights no problem
Yes this 8' MH model rod would be perfect for most jetty and pier bait fishing applications
The 8 foot extra heavy would be ideal for sturgeon and the 7'6 mh or heavy would be ideal for stripers from the boat
Either would be good for casting lures. It really just comes down to weight of the lure you're throwing and size class of fish you intend on targeting.
The 8' may be okay for surf use, but otherwise, I would go with a longer rod for the surf.
7'6" Heavy would be ideal
Your reel will be best paired with Daiwa PRTWN76MHF Proteus-WN Saltwater Conventional Rod - 7 ft. 6 in.
Anthony, it should be able to handle 130lb braid, but we certainly would not advise going that high above the rod's listed line rating.
Hi Bruce, Unfortunately the Daiwa Proteus WN Blue Saltwater Rods do not come with any rod sleeve but are shipped in plastic. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
Hi Jim, We recommend the Daiwa Proteus in the 7'6 heavy spinning for your application. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!
Nothing is listed but max I would think would be 8 oz's.
These rods don't have gimbles
