Nice jigging rod

Carlos

west coast style jig setup paired with accurate boss valient 400 I enjoyed jigging flat, butterfly and slow pitch style jigs. I had 2 busy jig trips for jumbo copper and vermilion rockfish and lingcod in Big Sur California and was impressed with this rod reel setup. the guides slant forward for what was advertised but sheding braid bunching up on the stick while jigging. the handle read more materials worked perfect. on my top 3 setups.

A very durable rod

This is the first branded rod that I have used. I am using the 2.1m Proteus, and I have used it to catch queen fish from shore. So far, I have caught 11 of them (average of 10kgs each) and never had any problems. And the best one was when we went on boat fishing, a giant manta ray took our bait, probably around 50kgs, this rod gave a good fight for about 2 hrs. Although we lost read more the fight, the rod proved its worth as we caught another queen fish the following day as if nothing happened. :)

Asked by rick 10 years ago

will the H model work well with smaller game as well? OAR do you recommend the medium weight for the occasional 100 pounder?

Customer Service 10 years ago

We haven't seen these yet. We would suggest going with the Heavy if you have a chance at a 100 pounder. It will work well for smaller fish as well. It is rated to 50lb braid, so a 100# fish will really test its limits.

Asked by scott brown 10 years ago

what reel would you suggest for the 8ft heavy model, i was thinking of avet lx with 80lb jb and 50lb momoi on the top for tarpon and large snook

Customer Service 10 years ago

Of these rods, the DAI-2020 (7'6' Heavy) would be the best for your application.

Asked by Joe Harper 9 years ago

is the but end gimbaled to fit a belt or rod holder?

Frank 9 years ago

Joe, this rod is not equipped with a gimbal but the but end will fit in a rod holder and a fighting belt if need be.

Will the PRTB80MF be ideal for a 20lb bait stick? Or should the PRTB80MHF be better for this application? Going to pair it with a Lexa 300 HD to fish light anchovies.

Donald 7 years ago

The PRTB80MHF would be a better fit for the Lexa 300HD using Sardines. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.

Asked by MRC70 7 years ago

Is the PRTB80HF a good rod for casting surface irons on the west coast, or is it too stiff..? Also, how much does this rod weigh? Thank you.

Donald 7 years ago

The PRTB80HF would be a good rod casting lures in the west coast. The actual weight of the rod is unavailable at this time. The shipping weight of the rod is 16 oz.

Asked by Mickey 2 years ago

Should I get a medium heavy or heavy model for speed jigging amberjacks?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Mickey, I would recommend a PTB76MHF Proteus Boat Conventional Rod. However since it's currently sold out I would also recommend a Daiwa SLTGJ66MHB Saltiga Jigging Conventional Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-sltgj66mhb-saltiga-

Asked by Demetrius Olivieri 2 years ago

looking to get the 65 to 120 braid model..... will have 100 braid topped with 50 yards of 90 mono.... this rod recommends 60 mono as its high limit (45 ideal)... will i have issues with the 90 mono? and why, guide size or what? Thanks

Huy - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Demetrious, The line rating on the Daiwa Proteus Boat Conventional rods are a suggestion for optimal use for the rod. If you are deciding on using 90lbs mono on the rod as a top shot, you should have little to no issue. It is mostly due to guide

Asked by Dylan Thayer 6 years ago

Is this rod casting or spinning?

Bernie 6 years ago

This rod is made only for conventional reels.
