Reel pairing for heavy long handle and difference from Daiwa sol
I would say I had the wrong reel on this rod originally making it tip heavy. there for making the rod too heavy. This rod pairs nice with a Spheros 5000 sw.
I purchased a diawa sol 7 medium heavy and the bottom on Sol is different it has a bottom for boat use. Will leave black markings on hand (the Sol) have caught stripers up to 31 and handled well.
Owned rod
The rod is very good looking- I purchased a Long Handle Heavy- Will caest 3 oz sinkers with small baits if needed. guides are small and my double uni knots will rub the guide. The guides have shown a little bit of rust, but I fish for long periods of time and don't always scrub them the same day. very strong rod have found that it pairs very nicely with quantum cabo 40, but have… read more also used with stradic 5000 FK. caught 33" blues and subdued but didn't land on the dock, an estimated 37"-snook. Leader broke when I tried touching the line. I got the extra long handle because I read that the longer butts allow for longer cast. I bought a second one (same action) as I left the first one in FL for the snook action. Cons: I believe the Diawa Sol is similar build and less $. Liking these Diawa rods, but havent tried all the other brands.
Extra fast action is No good
Rod with long button is nice. But action: extra fast is stupid design. I cant cast far, extra fast is hard, extra fast almost are stupid. I like fast action, moderate fast action
Quality and sensitivity
Got the 7-6 MHXS as a backup or occasional rod. Very impressed with the quality. I am a fan of XS action. This rod did not dossapointed. Paired it with the Back Bay 4000 reel and there I made the best combo between the same reel and rod options available.
Nice rods
Bought this for a popping cork rod. Put a Back Bay 4000 on and it casts a cajun thunder like a rocket. I'll be buying another soon.
76HXS
Great looking rod! Feels very sturdy and light weight. Look forward to putting it through the ropes in the spring!
Looks good!
Just received my rod! Looks great, chose the 1/2 -1 1/2 oz model. Seems very sturdy and light weight. First time straying away from my st croixs for light gear. Looking forward to spring time back bay bass!!

Hi Will, A Daiwa PCNALT2500D Procyon AL LT Spinning Reel would pair well with the Daiwa BB710MXS Back Bay Spinning Rod. However, since it's currently sold out I would also recommend a Daiwa BB76MHXS Back Bay Spinning Rod. https://www.tackl
The main advantage would be for leverage, as you would have more butt length to stick under your arm or against your hip making it comfortable and easy to keep leverage on a fish, similar to the extra butt length on a surf casting rod
Roughly 4 inches.
