Century is worth the moeny, yes a tsunami can do the job, but this brings that extra confidence needed when fishing the surf
great stuff
Sling shot
The lightest 12.5 ft rod I have ever fished. I hold it for hours surf fishing. Incredible rod. IMO it is worth every cent!!! Definitely recommend this rod.
Ss1208
What a nice stick. Great strong whip. Very light. Use at canal. A beast.
Better than you can imagine
these rods are amazing. i looked at the price and though no way i would ever spend that much, but then i went to hatteras jack. ryan white let me actually go out and use this rod in the surf for a day and it had me sold. every surf rod in the line up is unbelievable
Perfect Surf Rods
honestly, century makes the best surf rod in the world IMO. they cast better than any other rod i've used, have great back bone and even better durability. I have both the 10' 6" and 11' sling shot models and have used both for years without a hiccup. best rods on the market.
The best rod i ever used
this rod is awesome for canal fishing
i have it paired with a van stall reel and this combo is great for pulling in stripers
Wow!!! Hands down best surf rod I have ever used and owned
This surf rod is extremely light and versatile. The distance this rod can cast is outstanding, loads up nice and casts a mile. I have thrown 1/2oz bucktails to 4oz of lead and a chunk with this rod and it handles it well. First time chunking with this rod and I landed a sandbar shark. Paired it with a quantum Cabo 50, can cast all day and not have any fatigue in my arm or shoulder.… read more I highly recommend this for anyone looking to make a step up to a high end surf rod, I'm glad I did and will never ever regret it. Don't let the price deter you, it's WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!! We all know you pay for what you get in the fishing industry, so why not treat yourself with this?!?!? Go for it
Just what I was looking for...
Nice rod...casts a mile & handles 1 to 3 ounce lures with ease. I use it exclusively for top waters and paired it with a Shimano Ultegra 5500 - nice combination! Service was excellent, my goto online supplier!
Excelent service
The rod was not in stock would ship from Century in 5 to 10 days to Tackledirect, in six days I recieved the rod know that service. This is why I purchase all my surf fishing supplies from tackledirect.
So Far So Good!
After doing a lot of research I decided to try out a Century brand product...and went with the SS1145, it will be used exclusively for tossing top waters and small metals. Once I made the decision to buy I
needed to find a retailer - I am just getting back into surf fishing now that I am semi-retired but haven't stayed current with distributors and retailers over the years.…

So, more research, when I found Tackle
Direct. Loved the product videos and selection - long story short I ordered from them (and a couple weeks later a new Penn Torque spinning reel) and the experience was perfect. Rod (and later the reel)
arrived on time and in perfect condition...very impressed with the packaging used, actually took me over 20 minutes to open the rod tube! Anyway - this is more of a review of Tackle Direct's competence
as winter has sit in here in the northeast and I wasn't able to use the new rod and reel this Fall...but have already been doing tons of research on hot spots for next season!
1265 SLING SHOT ROD
perfect surf rod, nice weight, balance and feel. Should cast a long way.
Great rod
Excellent rod for fishing the Cape Cod Canal....won't fatigue you casting/jigging and has the backbone to turn large stripers in heavy current
Sling Shot SS 1265
I was searching for the perfect distance rod for the Canal and some of the other spots I fish. This rod delivers the distance. Surprisingly, the lightness & tip "play" lets you work pencils & other lures all the way back & that, not the terrific distance, is what I like most about these rods.
Light rod
It is very light weight rod..
I pair with vs 200 and vs 150
both balance well.
I like little stiffer rod, but sling shot is very light.

I would recommend a 10'-11' Heavy rated rod. the SS1329 in this model Century rod would work but may be on the heavy side.
I would recommend looking into the ODM Jigster or Frontier X model rods would be perfect for your fishing application

The ss1145 9'6" is a 50/50 split.

Hello Islam, the Shimano Ultegra ci4+ surf spinning reel in the 5500 would pair well with the 11 foot Century Sling Shot. Another option would be the 8000 size Shimano Saragosa.

The century rod will work great for your needs and the xx heavy will have plenty of backbone for tarpon and blacktip.
Hello Tom, that question may be better suited for the manufacture here is the phone number for Century 252-987-2428.
Hello Yves, there isn't a 9 foot model but the model you specified are the 10'6" sling shots.
It may affect the way the rod loads but not enough to make a difference in casting.
The only difference is the split of the rod the 60/40 is going to feel more like a one piece rod.
22 1/2 inches
16 1/2 inches
It is a 50/50 split
