Casting masterpiece

Love this rod. It is light and strong with plenty of whip. The distance it achieves with little effort is impressive. Even light poppers can travel out a long way. Good control with larger fish.

Great casting with ample spine

Have matched this rod with a Tranx 500 HG and the combination is ideal for tuna and wahoo. Throws bombs with ease and has plenty of backbone for hard running fish.

Nice striper rod

Love the back bone on this rod and its action when plugging, really nice feel when just holding this rod.

Great rod

Rod loads well under heavy drag pressures and landed many 80-100# yellowfin easily. I feel the 80n is the perfect length for casting from head boats.

Surprised

Excellent rod, used in Panama for big yellow fin tuna, have the 8' and 8'6" the shorter rod was better for playing the bigger fish, and the longer was great for casting distance

very good all through action and a very powerful rod when you want to give the fish some welly

Love this rod, its the second one I have bought. I have the 8' and now the 8'6" not much difference in length but more casting distance with the longer rod. Strong as an iron bar

great feel, design and light

Looking for the right rod to pair with a 19 Stella 14000xg. Popping, pencils, maybe more, looking for a bit of versatility.

Alyssa Madosky 4 years ago

You will be happy with both 8ft and 7ft 6, The difference between the two is minimal slightly bigger and slight lure rating difference. You may find to like to 8ft better due to longer casts and more torque when fighting big fish due to the length and sli

Asked by Christopher Goodacre 2 years ago

What is the lightest Lure weight the 8'0" nano can cast comfortably and is this rod strictly for popping or can it be used for stickbaiting as well?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

<span>Hi Christopher, According to Black Hole, The Black Hole 80N Cape Cod Special Popping Rod - Nano has a lure weight rating of 30grams - 60grams. It is a stickbait rod rather than popping rods though you can cast poppers with it as well. Please let us

What size rod do you recommend for the stella 18k sw for fighting big yellowfin tuna the 8”0 or the 8”6?

Alex T 3 years ago

Cant go wrong with either of these rods, both very great options. the 8'6 rod would just give you that little bit extra rod for leverage and casting distance

Donald 6 years ago

The lightest lure the Black Hole Nano 10'6'' will load would be 150g.

What Penn torque reel would match up with the Black Hole 8'6" popping rod for GT? Van stall?

Donald 7 years ago

The Penn TorqueS9 will be the best reel for the Black Hole 86N Cape Cod Special Popping Rod - Nano.

Asked by marc 8 years ago

are these all spinning rods?

Kaitryn 8 years ago

Yes they are, the popping are all spinning.

Asked by Steve Mullins 9 years ago

I have the 86n & have landed some big GT's on it, but I think its a bit overkill for Bluefins in the 20 to 50 kg range. Would like to know a little more about about the 76n, whats the lightest weight it will cast reasonably well with say a 10000 size reel

Customer Service 9 years ago

The rod will be great for Bluefins. We suggest sticking with a 10000 size reel. The casting distance will be cut more due to the rod length than anything else. As for lure weight, 2 oz. is probably the low end of the range.
