How to tie a double uni knot

Two opposing uni knots join main line and leader. Use lines of similar diameter; follow the line maker for large diameter differences.

Where should you use it?

Line: mono, fluoro, braid-to-leader. Use: line-to-line. The standing line goes to the reel; the tag is the free end. A bight is a folded section of line.

How do you tie it step by step?

  1. Step 1: Overlap the two lines by about 6 inches with tags pointing in opposite directions.

What should you check before casting?

Two knots around separate single lines will not make this join. Each barrel must grip the other standing line.

Wet the line before tightening. Pull firmly on the finished connection, inspect the wraps, and retie if they overlap or the line is damaged. No knot-strength percentage is claimed.
